An amusing story about #8 "Fixinto" is one word. It means "I'm going to do that".; well, funny to me at least.

My eldest daughter went to college in the north. Well, naturally, many of her dorm mates were Yankees (it was unavoidable). So one evening she said to some of them, "I'm fixinto go to the store. Anybody need anything?" Several of them said, "You're what"? and thought "fixinto go" was the funniest thing they had ever heard.

I would say Damn Yankees but they were young and didn't know any better.

Above the Mason-Dixon Line, the "Fixinto" is known as the "Round Tuit"...

Back in the fifties, a lot of southerners moved to my town to work. Many of them lived on my street, and we all became friends. From them, I grew up with the terms posted. School broke me of using the terms, but sometimes, I slip and use them. I loved that post because it brought back so many good memories.

When I was in school, hunters got an excused absence on the first day of hunting season. Most of the boys didn't show up for classes, and I bet half of them didn't go hunting.

"Ya'll" is mostly singular. "All ya'll" is always plural.

Grammar police alert . . .  :nono:

The correct spelling is Y'all.

I'm fluent in three languages: English, Sarcasm, and Profanity.
