The reasons for his selections are not given on the web page where this summary came from. However, if you go there and click on a movie posted in red, assuming anyone even cares, you go to a page where his actual review (done on his radio show) is linked.

I happen to hear tonight that the last movie listed, "The Wolf of Wall St", which the promos make look interesting, set a new record for the use of the "F" word in a movie, over 500 times in 3 hours. Hooray for Hollywood.

Apparently, it's very explicit. I read an article about the filming of an orgy scene and it sounded extremely degrading and disgusting.

I've seen:

Gravity: Awesome.  Next best thing to actually going to outer space.

The Place Beyond the Pines:  Good, but routine.

Captain Phillips: Better than I expected.

Blue Jasmine: Cate Blanchete's haunting performance and Allen's taut and perceptive script make this well worth seeing.  Also, while everyone talks about Blanchette's performance, every actor in this movie is right on the mark, including Andrew Dice Clay.

The Kings of Summer: A great coming of age movie, more for the guys since it's about becoming a man.  Definitely one of the best movies of the year.

I am dying to see American Hustle.

Hey, I don't see The Butler on that list!

Obviously a racist list.

The best movie I saw this year was not a movie, and wasn't from this year.

"Searching for Sugar Man", a 2012 documentary.

It is a must see.

I agree.  BTW, you may not know it but on some remote part of the planet people are following your blogs and you are a major star.  Unfortunately, the women don't shave under their arms there, and most of them have bristly mustaches, but you ARE famous.
