New Years Eve: CNN's Kathy Griffin Hits 5-Year Low, Loses 40% of Audience

Apparently the threat promise of seeing Kathy Griffin topless backfired on CNN. The Fox News Channel's New Years Eve special not only beat CNN in total viewers, but Anderson Cooper and Griffin's viewership plummeted nearly 40% over last year -- from 2.3 million viewers last year to only 1.426 million Tuesday night. CNN did, however, beat Fox news in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demo.

The 1.426 million rating is also a new low for CNN, going all the way back to 2008.

2008: 2.31 million.

2009: 1.673 million

2010:  1.532 million

2011: 1.605 million

Could it be that the public is finally tiring of watching Griffin's annual debasing of herself? Last year, the attention-desperate, left-wing comedian simulated oral sex on her co-host. The year before that she ripped off her blouse. The year before that she dropped the f-bomb.

Yep, everyone turned into FOX to see the Duck Dynasty guys instead of Cooper and Griffin try to see who can be most outrageous and offensive.

She has been outrageous and offensive for years.  In the last few, she's also become insanely shrill and angry, in the spirit of Cher or Roseanne Barr.
