Despite conventional wisdom, Republicans and Democrats can agree on important issues. As a lifelong Republican, I agree with Democrat Warren Buffett: Obamacare should be scrapped. I also agree with Hollywood liberals that NSA spying on millions of innocent Americans is a violation of our collective right to privacy. And I agree with feminist Camille Paglia that Hillary Clinton disqualified herself as a presidential candidate with her handling of Benghazi.
Here’s why:
The most important duty of the commander in chief is to keep Americans safe. Before the deadly Sept 11, 2012, attack resulting in the brutal murders of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith and Tyrone Woods, the State Department received multiple requests from Stevens pleading for security due to the escalating dangerous environment.
Did Hillary respond appropriately by sending needed security to Libya? No.
Did Hillary close the consulate prior to the attack and bring our men home safe as a preventative measure? No.
Did Hillary dispatch military back-up when our consulate was under fire by terrorists launching RPGs and mortars? No.
Has Hillary found the terrorists responsible and brought them to justice as promised to the victims’ families? No.
Has Hillary been up-front and honest about what happened the night of the deadly attack? Not even close.
Nearly 16 months later, we still don’t know why security wasn’t sent before, during or after the attack. Nor do we know who gave the order to “stand down,” or who killed our four brave men. Nor do we know why the talking points crafted by the Obama administration post-attack were scrubbed and rewritten multiple times.
There’s a well-known “Leave No Man Behind” code in the military. That code was broken by high-ranking members of the Obama administration, including Clinton, that deadly night. In the military, trust matters. Lives depend on it.
So how would our military trust a commander in chief when, as secretary of state, she hung our own Navy SEALs and U.S. ambassador out to dry in Benghazi?
Answer: They couldn’t.
