Interesting

Soviet ideology believes in a "winnable" nuclear attack. The effects of nuclear weapon strikes on its territory and therefore spent considerably more thought on civil defense preparations than in the U.S., with defense plans that have been assessed to be far more effective than those in the U.S

Well - it's not as if the West doesn't have it's fair share of hidden and secret bunkers and transport facilities.

From the War rooms under Whitehall (complete with tunnels connecting most major departments, Buckingham Palace and for some reason Harrods and Fortnum and Mason) to the huge hidden bunker under the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virgina, to the parallel transportation system deep under Manhattan, we have done our share of these too.

They are always fascinating to see.

NORAD/Cheyanne Mountain can withstand a 600 psi overblast. The base is built on shock absorbers.

source:(1966) (NORAD Hist Ref Paper 12). ?NORAD's Underground Combat Operations Center, 1956-1966? (Report). pp. 22-23. (cited by Schaffel p. 253: "withstand effects of nuclear attack from weapons of up to 30 megatons where overpressure on the surface would be 600 pounds per square inch.")
