The announcement that Afghanistan is planning to release 88 prisoners from jail has been met with fury by officials in the US.

The US wants Afghanistan to halt the release because they pose a serious threat to security, U.S. officials said on Wednesday, adding to strains between the two sides.

About 40 percent of the prisoners were directly responsible for wounding or killing 57 Afghan civilians and security forces, and 30 percent had participated in direct attacks that killed or wounded 60 U.S. and coalition troops, a U.S. official said.

Obama surely signed off on this.

Obama surely signed off on this.

It's probable he ordered it.

My thoughts almost exactly.  He is so enamored with the muslim brotherhood that I can't imagine him being upset with the release of Taliban prisoners.
