The deadline was always going to slip. It was way too optimistic for the conditions, but put in as a sop to Obama.

By jove - another potential attacking point, should the GOP be awake enough to use it.

Hard to say. It really is rough traveling in Syria, especially for convoys, so the fact of the delay could be genuine. The deadline itself though - everyone with an ounce of sense knew it was impractical. Unfortunately, the State department and the WH seem to have misplaced their sense. It probably fell down behind the washing machine.

Anything from either side should be taken with three camel loads of salt!

But - I'd trust Assad's forces more than the rebels, especially now with the infighting. They were usually pretty decent sorts.
