Three years after the passage of the Affordable Care Act, Americans see it as President Barack Obama’s greatest achievement and his biggest failure, according to a new poll released Monday.

The Gallup poll shows how deeply divided the public is on Obamacare, with 36 percent saying it is his biggest failure, while 22 percent see it as his greatest achievement.

“Getting troops home/ending wars” in Iraq and Afghanistan and “capturing Osama bin Laden” are listed as his next greatest achievements, tied at 7 percent, the poll found. Next in line among his biggest failures, according to respondents, are “not working with Republicans” at 9 percent, and “lack of communication,” at 5 percent.

Unsurprisingly, the public is deeply divided along partisan lines. When asked about the president’s greatest achievement, 40 percent of Republicans say he has none; when Democrats are asked the same question, 39 percent say it is the ACA.

The survey of 1,031 adults was conducted Dec. 5 to 8 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
