Let's keep one thing in mind.  The main reason that this deal went through is because there was absolutely no involvement by the White House.  At some point the two parties in Congress have to come together on something, and to date Obama's involvement has torpedoes each and every attempt to get any kind of compromise.

This does not mean I am endorsing any of it, just pointing out that had Obama not been out of the Country, none of this would have happened.

Excellent point, that should be shouted from the rooftops.

The deal itself - not great. Not even terribly good. But it's a deal. The Worm wasn't available to crap on it and threaten a veto.

“ He has won re-elections by enormous margins in the Senate. A testament to his popularity with his constituents. ”—Once-Ler

So did Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chávez, Baarack Obama and countless other corrupt despots. His election record speaks more to his ability to manipulate the system and the masses than anything else.

Seriously disappointing response.  You equate a victim of torture and the twice elected President of the United States with Saddam, and Chavez.  To call Obama and more so McCain a despot is sloppy logic and a butchering of the meaning of the word despot.  Worthy of a global moderator at a political forum.

Then you insult the voters of AZ.  The voters of AZ who elected RINOs Flake and Brewer and 5 out of 9 rat congressmen are quite capable of electing McCain in their own free will without manipulation.  McCain only manipulated the system to push JD Hayworth's face in the mud and win by 20 points.

I am an AZ voter... that was not an insult from JM... in fact you're the one with his head in the sand 're McCaIn... He wins by using every dirty trick in the book , same as his good friend next state over Harry Reid...any good will McCain had from Vietnam is long gone with his joining with Kerry to quash search for and info on other missing POWs
