Islamist Protesters in London Warn Shops Against Alcohol Sales

British Islamist hate preacher Anjem Choudary was at the forefront of a recent protest in East London demanding that restaurants and businesses stop selling alcohol.

The protest down Brick Lane was timed to coincide with holiday parties for office workers being held in the area.

Speaking to the crowd, Choudary said, "The shops are run by Muslims and they know they are selling alcohol, and they know the sale and consumption of alcohol is completely prohibited. We cannot live among the non-Muslims and see this evil take place.”

Choudary also declared his desire that sharia (Islamic) law, including the banning alcohol, would rule in Britain.  He warned that anyone violating the ban would face the sharia punishment of 40 lashes.

About 60 Muslim protestors took part in the event, including a number of women dressed in black burqas.

British police stood between the protesters and the shops and also kept British counter-protesters at a distance.

Choudary and his al-Muhajiroun network (which has been outlawed) have been named as “the single biggest gateway to terrorism in recent British history,” according to a large and significant investigation of the group.

The investigation, conducted by the anti-extremist organization called “Hope Not Hate,” found that Choudary’s network “facilitated or encouraged” close to 80 young Muslims from the UK as well as between 250 and 300 from other locations in Europe to join radical jihadi groups linked to Al Qaeda fighting with rebel forces in Syria.

“While painted by some as a figure of fun, an extremist crackpot whose media stunts are rightly ridiculed, Anjem Choudary has become a serious player on the international Islamist scene,” the report states “Perhaps it is time to start concentrating on his role as a facilitator of terror. Al-Muhajiroun has quite simply been the single biggest gateway to terrorism in recent British history.”

Although Choudary has been on the government’s radar for many years for his extremist views and preaching of hate, British authorities have never taken action against him (with the exception of a fine of 500 pounds --$800 -- for an illegal protest outside Denmark’s embassy in London in connection with the Mohamme

And the Muslim protesters will complain about that. Despite the fact that if the cops were not there, they'd probably get the mother of all beat downs.

You see, we English are a bit odd like that. Store owners, restaurant staff, takeaway workers tend to become friends when you see them every day or every few days. Any attack on the shops in Brick Lane would have met with a rather devastating response.

Seriously, for any Muslims reading - don't even think of touching our booze. Ever.

I wouldn't worry about the muslims on this issue but I would worry about Cameron and Parliament caving to them. :truce:

Well there ain't anything stopping you from picking up and moving back to whence you came, or to any other muslim-dominated country.

Charge him with incitement, arrest him, try him, convict him, lock him away with zero outside contact.

Incitement isn't illegal here. Only specific threats.

Obviously.  The remark was rhetorical but, if actually addressed to the bastard, would expose his ulterior motives.

Then change your laws. That is what parliament should do.

Where's the dividing line between incitement and making specific threats?  Does the imminency of incited violence matter (e.g., someone on a soapbox demanding that "the people" everywhere, including those in front of him, start rioting immediately?).

From what I understand, it is in the immediacy. You'll note Choudary was very careful to specify it happening at some unnamed future time. These hate preachers are well versed in the law and know exactly how close to the line they can walk.

In a funny way, they do us a service. Anyone who attends one of the rallys or the mosque they preach in, even once, becomes a person of interest and is monitored for several years. Hate preachers have been responsible for exposing more terror plots than MI5 and the police combined.

Immediacy (and specificity) are also the touchstones in the US.
