Columnist Charles Krauthammer briefly hijacked PBS’ “Inside Washington” program on Sunday to criticize the media’s willful ignorance of Obamacare’s problems, telling viewers they should “try Fox [News]” if they want real information about the president’s healthcare law.
Host Gordon Peterson asked Krauthammer about the growing civil war between GOP leadership and Tea Party groups over the new budget deal passed earlier this week in the House:
PETERSON: Republicans do not run everything. You have to find a way to work with the other side of the aisle to make the government work. Apparently there are people in Washington who find that kind of reasoning toxic, Charles.
KRAUTHAMMER: Let me start with an editorial note. I love how you guys just can’t wait to get your teeth into Republicans throwing mud at Republicans on a week when this administration — by the way, the viewers, you’re not going to hear a word about a week in which the secretary of HHS unilaterally, lawlessly changed every deadline in the Obamcare law without any legal authority, in way that is absolutely astonishing. But you won’t hear about this on this show, so try Fox.
His fellow panelists were incredulous. “This feels like a filibuster to me,” said Peterson, prompting NPR’s Nina Totenberg to exclaim “keep him up all night!” Washington Post columnist Colby King, meanwhile, attacked Fox News itself.
KING: Did he mention Fox? Fox, where the big picture is that Santa is white and Jesus is white? That’s the Fox we’re talking about? Please, let’s not go there.
KRAUTHAMMER: We’re talking about the Fox that explains to people –
KING: That Jesus is white and Santa is white? That’s the Fox I know –
PETERSON: I think we’re really getting off-point here.
