McCain praises Biden for support of foreign aid
The Oval

David Jackson, USA TODAY 11:28 a.m. EST December 13, 2013

Some high-profile bipartisanship in Washington on Thursday night, as former Republican presidential candidate John McCain praised Democratic Vice President Biden for his long-time support of foreign aid.

McCain, a senator from Arizona, said Biden -- a former Senate colleague from Delaware -- "deserves our gratitude and respect for his many years of effective leadership in ensuring that all the resources America has to influence the course of world events are funded adequately and used effectively."

The 2008 GOP presidential nominee also said he has never "doubted for a moment that the United States of America is fortunate to be served by as able, articulate, honest, dedicated and impassioned a world leader as my friend Joe Biden."

McCain and running mate Sarah Palin lost the 2008 election to President Obama and Biden.

From The Hill:

"Biden received recognition from the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition for his longstanding commitment to America's global role, notably as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and now as vice-president.

"'What we do beyond our borders matters here at home more than it ever has,' Biden said. 'At just over 1% of our federal budget, American investment in (foreign aid) is one of the best bargains for American taxpayers.'"
The time is now near at hand which must probably determine, whether Americans are to be, Freemen, or Slaves. G Washington July 2, 1776
