Nov. 3 trial date set for NY embassy bombings case

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge says he may consider using two juries simultaneously at an embassy bombings trial in New York.

The 1998 bombings at U.S. embassies in Africa killed 224 people, including a dozen Americans.

Two defendants were extradited from Great Britain. The third was snatched off the streets of Tripoli and brought to New York.

At a hearing Thursday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan set a Nov. 3 trial date.

A defense lawyer complained that prosecutors might introduce evidence making it seem the men were partially responsible for the "age of terrorism."

That's when Kaplan suggested two juries could sit at once.
