Gabrielle Giffords Launches PAC to Help Gun Control Supporters

by AWR Hawkins 6 Dec 2013, 3:09 PM PDT

Gabrielle Giffords is using the last of the money from her congressional campaign account to launch a new gun control PAC that will make its first contributions to Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (D-PA).

According to Politico, "the new entity will be called the Rights and Responsibilities PAC." Money will be used to support Senators who supported the Manchin/Toomey gun bill earlier this year, beginning with Manchin and Toomey themselves.

Giffords' congressional campaign already "gave money to Manchin a few months ago." Prior to this, money for Manchin was raised at a July 22nd "$1,000 a plate fundraiser" sponsored by gun control proponent Michael Bloomberg.

Giffords' new PAC also plans to support other Senators who voted for the Manchin/Toomey gun bill. These include Sens. Kay Hagan (D-NC) and Susan Collins (R-Maine).
