Karl Rove mocked David Plouffe for saying that Obamacare will work really well by 2017, calling the former White House adviser’s comments “happy talk.”
“This was happy talk. This was going on and bubbling, looking … excited, but it was happy talk,” Rove said Monday on Fox News’s “The Kelly File.” “We passed this law three years ago. We’ve completely screwed up its implementation over the last three years. Wait three more years and we’re going to get it right. Oh, and incidentally, we’ll be out of office, so you can’t blame us anymore.”
Plouffe said Sunday that might be until 2017 before Obamacare will work “really well.”
“It may take until 2017 when this president leaves office, you’re going to see almost every state in this country running their own exchanges eventually and expanding Medicaid. And I think it’ll work really well then,” Plouffe said on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”
Rove, who has been critical of the Affordable Care Act, ripped the law saying more people will lose their coverage and fewer people will receive subsidies than predicted, leading to higher costs.
“So Mr. Plouffe can go on with happy talk, but the American people know differently. When the administration talks one way and the reality is felt a different way, it hurts,” Rove said.
