WSJ's Henninger: Obamacare Won't End Without GOP Sweep in 2016

Obamacare won't end unless Republican make a clean sweep of the White House, the House, and the Senate, Wall Street Journal columnist Dan Henninger believes.

Henninger, appearing on the Fox Business show  Varney & Company, told host Stuart Varney, that even though Obamacare's failed rollout means the healthcare reform law may be "disintegrating," it doesn't mean it's going away.

"The only way this is is going to end is come 2016, the Republicans have taken control of the White House, the Senate, and the House," said Henninger. "It has to be a clean sweep because the White House and [Department of] Health and Human Services are not going to step back from this."

He anticipates the Obama administration will keep pushing Obamacare forward, forcing doctors and hospitals to participate, even though Varney pointed out there are some Democrats pushing to delay implementation.

"Even if they do this and delay it, they'll simply take the year to fix some of the shortcomings and reintroduce it a year from now," said Henninger.

The columnist also said he believes the nation is heading for a "two-tier" medical system, in which younger people and those with lower incomes will be pushed into Medicaid or other subsidized programs, while insurance companies will "create exchanges" for the middle class for other kinds of coverage.

Meanwhile, Henninger agreed with Varney that it would be very difficult to replace Obamacare after it's been in the works for so long.

However, Henninger said alternatives are likely to be introduced to give customers more choice in their healthcare options.

But the state of the economy is even worse than Obamacare, said Henninger, who outlined his opinion about the economy in a recent WSJ column.

The Obama administration is 'not creating enough jobs," said Henninger. "We're still growing at around 2 percent, where it should be 3.3 percent."

Not true.  If the Republicans can seize the Senate in 2014 and keep the House in numbers sufficient to over-ride a Presidential veto, then Obama will be done until he finally leaves office.
