FAST AND FURIOUS STAR, 40, DEAD IN FIERY CRASH!
« on: December 01, 2013, 08:07:06 am »

7:15 PM PT -- Paul's rep just released a statement about his death, and says "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives." Witnesses on the scene originally said they thought the car was Paul's ... but have since confirmed it was not.

The rep added that Paul was "attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide."

Paul Walker -- best known for his role in "The Fast and the Furious" movies -- died Saturday afternoon after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California ... TMZ has learned.

The accident happened in Santa Clarita -- north of Los Angeles -- and Paul was the passenger in the two-seater Porsche Carrera GT when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree ... and the car burst into flames.

Several of our sources -- some of whom were at the scene of the accident -- tell us a friend of Paul's was driving and was also killed in the fiery wreck.

The Fast and Furious genre has become the hottest sequel in terms of being a money maker....in Hollywood.

So....who will replace Paul Walker?

If they're going to retain the California-boy look...blond hair blue eyes....then who is your choice to team up with Vin Diesel in future installments?

My first pick....maybe because of his screen presence....is Jeffrey Renner.

I know.  Sorry.

Was just coming from the fact that Fast and Furious 6 was so well done that it was going to take over American like the Ninja Turtles and the Cabbage Patch dolls once did.

They were already doing #7.

BTW...if you haven't seen The Bourne Legacy...you'd see why he's my latest action film hero character.  Very powerful performance.

I just watched it last night on free cinemax. I have always liked him.He has been a couple other films too that he was good in.  great choice. So they were already doing a 7? I guess his death could be writen into the story line that he was killed by the bad guys?

Paul Walker
Final Moments Before Fatal Ride [Photo]

Quote
Moments before Paul Walker took what urned out to be a fatal ride -- he posed proudly next to the exotic car that exploded on impact in the deadly accident.

Paul was photographed with the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that belonged to his friend Roger Rodas. They were attending a fundraiser in Santa Clarita, CA.

We're told the photos and video were taken about 30 minutes before the accident.

Paul Walker's body was burned so badly the coroner needs his dental records to identify the body ... TMZ has learned.

A rep for the L.A. County Coroner tells us ... the bodies of Paul and his friend/business partner Roger Rodas are currently unidentifiable and their autopsies will be delayed until later this week.

We're told the coroner is waiting on both sets of dental records before proceeding.

Rodas -- who was driving the Porsche yesterday -- was friends with Walker for nearly a decade ... and Roger has been credited with helping Paul start his race shop.

The two also joined forces to create the "Reach Out World Wide" Foundation to help disaster relief in other countries -- and as we first reported ... the group was behind yesterday's fundraiser for typhoon relief in Santa Clarita.

Paul's rep says Roger and Paul were leaving the event when they wrecked.

Rodas was 38 years old.

The final photograph: Fast and Furious star Paul Walker pictured getting into his friend's high-powered Porsche GT just moments before being engulfed in deadly fire ball that has left the coroner requesting dental records to identify the bodies

Quote
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that speed was a factor in the crash.

Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns.

‘I don't know if the marks in the road are related to the crash,’ said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Brian Allen.

The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m., about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held and where the speed limit is 45 mph.

Guests rushed to put out the flames with fire extinguishers but the fireball had already engulfed the car.

Deputies arrived to find a vehicle on fire and once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

By Saturday evening, all that remained was the burnt mangled metal of the red car and a light pole that had been knocked down.

The driver of the car has been identified as former race car driver Roger Rodas, 38, who was also Walker's financial adviser. The pair were friends and had been racing for several years before they began collaborating on Walker's finances..

Unsafe horsing around. An office park, speed limit 45 mph, spinning doughnuts, loses control, hits light pole, $450,000 Porsche explodes and burns.

Amazingly fast, high performance vehicle--called "brutal and savage."

Good thing the driver didn't lose control, and mow down some spectators. I'll opine he has more money than driving skill or brains.

Mechanical failure behind Paul Walker crash: report

Quote
The trouble-prone Porsche that “Fast & Furious” star Paul Walker was riding in when he died in a crash suffered a mechanical failure that was likely caused by a power steering fluid leak, a new report said Monday.

Sources connected to Always Evolving – the auto shop co-owned by Walker and Porsche driver Roger Rodas — told the celebrity Web site TMZ that they saw “evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene.”

The sources said that the lack of skid marks until just before the point of impact suggests the driver didn’t have control of the speeding car’s steering.

Walker was just tagging along with a pal for a test-drive in a trouble-prone Porsche when they crashed and died, a new report said.

The 40-year-old actor had shown up at Always Evolving — a high-end car shop run by Walker’s buddy, former race-car driver Roger Rodas, 38 — for a fund-raiser for typhoon victims in the Philippines, according to TMZ.

But when he got to there, he saw Rodas trying to help employees figure out what was wrong with a red Porsche Carrera GT that kept stalling.

Rodas was behind the wheel, backing the pricy car out of the garage, when Walker hopped into the passenger seat and the pair took off to trouble-shoot, sources said.

They were returning from a 20-minute spin when they tragically crashed — just 500 yards from the shop.

Cops said Rodas, 38, had been speeding.

Paul Walker Crash
Cause Of Death Revealed
Trauma and Burn Injuries

http://www.tmz.com/2013/12/04/paul-walker-crash-coroner-cause-of-death-autopsy-report-identification-roger-rodas/

Quote
Paul Walker died from the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries sustained from the Nov. 30 car crash ... this according to the L.A. County Coroner's Office.

Translation -- Paul did not die from the impact of the crash alone. He burned to death after the Porsche GT crashed into a tree and a pole and exploded into flames.

The man who was driving the Porsche GT, Roger Rodas, died from multiple traumatic injuries suffered upon impact. Burning was not listed as a factor in his death.

The coroner says toxicology results for both men will be available in 6 to 8 weeks.

The Medical Examiner says both deaths have been ruled as an accident.

Sources in the coroner's office tell us ... both men were positively ID'd by using dental records.

Glad no innocent got killed. If you want to drive fast and furious, buy some track time. You have no business doing it on the street and putting others at risk. That said, death is too big a penalty for recklessness and sorry to see it.

I've read much of the same thing. He was a good guy who did a lot for charity.  It is sad when anyone is lost, especially good people.

I do find it a bit creepy though the obsession people have over this (and other celeb deaths). Everyone acts like they were his best friend when they knew little about except the roles they play. The reaction on this thread is normal and healthy, but on Facebook and other sites it is either extreme morning like they lost a family member, or cruel judgmentalism (guess which site that is).

It was bizarre to see Vin Diesel use that police cars speaker to talk to the crowd.

I totally agree, and I'm a racing fan, and a super-fast car fan. I totally respect guys like Ayrton Senna and Nikki Lauda, who tried to bring safety to racing.

Movies about their RESPONSIBLE behavior include "Senna" and "Rush."

Paul Walker secretly bought $9K wedding ring for Iraq vet

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/dec/5/paul-walker-revealed-secret-9k-wedding-ring-buyer/

Quote
Irene King said she was helping a couple pick out a wedding ring, when Mr. Walker walked into her jewelry shop and struck up a chat. It was 2004, around the holiday season, and the man she was helping with ring selections, Kyle Upham, had actually just returned from a military duty deployment to Iraq, Gawker reported.

His fiancée found a ring she loved, in the price range of $9,000. Mr. Upham said, Gawker reported: “Honey, I can’t afford that.”

Mr. Walker, however, who learned of the couple’s engagement and of Mr. Upham’s service to the nation, quietly approached Ms. King.

He said, “Put it on my tab,” Ms. King said, Gawker reported. But he also said to keep his contribution quiet — he didn’t want the couple to know who bought the ring.

Mr. Walker left the store and Ms. King advised the couple the $9,000 ring was theirs for the keeping. It wasn’t until after Mr. Walker’s death that Ms. King outed his generosity. And since, the story’s gone viral.

The Uphams, meanwhile, are still married and say the story confirms their suspicions — that they had thought Mr. Walker had paid for the ring, but weren’t sure.

Kristen Upham said to CBS: “I noticed there was someone else in [the store] and didn’t it much thought, and we started looking at rings and whatnot.” She said the “someone else” in the shop kept telling the couple to “Go bigger,” and choose a ring with a larger stone.

“I kept saying, ‘No, look at the prices,’ ” she said, CBS reported. But she did finally point out a larger one that captured her attention — and that’s the one Mr. Walker bought on the sly.
