PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida, November 25, 2013 – America elevated Barack Obama to the highest position in the country to eradicate any sense that this nation judged anyone based upon the color of their skin.
However, this great nation was so dedicated to pressing forward and forgetting past injustices, we allowed affirmative action to take hold at the highest level.
The fundamental thesis of Shelby Steele’s book White Guilt aptly applies to the case of Mr. Obama. The guilt that white America – primarily white liberals—wanted overcome and wash away created the first affirmative action presidency. It is not that standards were simply lowered; they were, and remain, non-existent for the first African-American president. And any questioning of President Obama is deemed as racist.
In our rush to forget the past, we forgot to demand standards and qualifications of the person seeking to be the leader of the free world. There was no inquiry of his past, many records were sealed, and no rhetorical statements were challenged. How could it be that the President of the Harvard Law Review never wrote a paper for that esteemed student-run law journal?
As a result, measurable standards of success have had to be redifined and the new normal means higher unemployment, a lasting and anemic economic recovery, and a foreign policy that has seen America’s credibility all but destroyed.
But it wasn’t just here in America. The Nobel Prize committee bestowed their coveted Peace Prize to an individual without a single accomplishment.
Here in year five of his presidency we are told that repeating a false statement over 30 times is not lying – it’s just “misspeaking.” Our employment is stagnant and we are slowly becoming a part-time employment nation.
How many times have we had this President of the United States stand before the American people, and state, “I don’t know” or “I just found out about this same as you did?”
Is this incompetence or intentional?
Clearly President Obama lacks the resume and qualifications to lead this great nation and its people. But of greater concern is his political philosophy of governance: progressive socialism. Winston Churchill said “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. Its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” Perhaps that explains why Obama shipped Churchill’s bust back to mother England.
So what happens when you elect an unqualified president? Well, you get Obamacare for starters.
On top of that, rather than an ability to govern and lead, you get arrogance and disdain manifesting itself in edicts and executive orders. And you get comments like “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that.”
And now, in the mold of a naïve Sir Neville Chamberlain, our unqualified president has surrendered and conceded to the number one state sponsor of terrorism, Iran. The late night smugness in trying to convince the American people, the world, and our allies that somehow this negotiation with Iran has shown Obama possesses some type of diplomatic skill is laughable. Once again he has portrayed weakness and eroded American trust and credibility.
American influence was once prominent and important in Libya, Egypt, Iraq and Syria, but has now been destabilized and weakened by President Obama and his failed policies. He may be able to read from a teleprompter, but he obviously never reads history and its application to the modern world.
In this case of affirmative action, it seems only to apply to blacks acceptable to progressive socialists. For black conservatives, the standards are immeasurably higher and yet disdained. Consider the resumes of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Senator Tim Scott, Condoleeza Rice, Herman Cain, Dr. Ben Carson, Judge Janice Rogers Brown, and even the father of black conservatism, Booker T. Washington, and how these exceptional and accomplished men and women are demonized, vilified, and viciously attacked by white liberal progressives, their media accomplices, and their black allies.
It is unconscionable to see white liberal acceptance of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson but rejection of those in the black community who refused to accept liberal patronage as, “clean, articulate, light-skinned, or not having a negro dialect.”
Affirmative action represents the most racist of policies. In effect it says because of the color of your skin, you are not capable of competing. It abandons the American principle of equality of opportunity and replaces it with the failed progressive socialist concept of equality of outcomes.
As it has been applied to enabling the elevation of President Barack Hussein Obama to the highest office in the land, the outcomes are equally dangerous for us all.
