Immigration-rights protesters interrupted President Obama's speech Monday demanding he use executive powers to immediately halt all deportations, but he rebuked them, telling them he doesn't have that power.

"You have a power to stop deportation," one man, standing directly behind Mr. Obama, shouted near the end of the president's immigration speech in San Francisco, who then began to lead chants of "Stop deportation!"

"Actually, I don't, and that's why we are here," Mr. Obama replied.

When security moved to escort the protester out of the room, Mr. Obama told them to hold off.

"These guys don't need to go. let me finish. No, no, he can stay there," he said.

He went on to say if he thought he had unilateral powers to halt deportations, he would. But he said that would actually break the law.

Mr. Obama raised expectations last year by issuing a directive halting deportations for most young illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. As of August, more than 450,000 of them have been granted papers exempting them from deportation.

Immigrant-rights groups argue that he could use those same powers to grant a temporary reprieve to most of the 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.

But Mr. Obama, while issuing several other directives halting deportations for certain favored categories such as families of troops and veterans, said he can't halt all deportations.

"If in fact I could solve all these problems without passing the laws in Congress then I would do so. But we're also a nation of laws, that's part of our tradition," he said.

"The easy way out is to yell and pretend I can try and do something by violating our laws. what I'm proposing is the harder path," Mr. Obama said. "It requires us lobbying and getting it done."

Staged? Obama's Sister Souljah moment?

When has lack of legal authority to do something ever deterred him?

From one of the better publications, the Canada Free Press:

Quote
Obama’s Traveling Circus now includes hecklers on script

Quote
For Barack Obama’s orchestrated public appearances, first came ‘The Faint’.  Now it’s ‘The Heckler’.

Video exists proving that no matter how slick Obama’s act, people do not faint dead away just at the sight of ‘The One’.

The Barack Obama Traveling Circus was on full display in San Francisco at the Betty Ann Ong Chinese Recreation Center yesterday.  The event, staged to promote his stalled immigration reform—complete with phony hecklers—took place on the same day it was announced that Obama gave Iran his $6-billion blessing to continue building its nuclear weapon.

“These days, President Obama even gets heckled by his supporters,” according to the New York Post.

But before shouting out “Oorah!” you should consider the convenient propaganda provided Obama by these made-to-order ‘hecklers’.

“There are thousands of immigrants deported every day,” yelled the heckler, who was a member of the multi-cultural crowd that the White House had assembled behind the president.”

How convenient for the cunning Obama, who responded within a heartbeat: “That’s exactly what we’re talking about.  That’s why we’re here.”

Without interruption of any kind, yet standing within a few feet of Obama, the ‘heckler’ continued on.  Or as mainstream media reported it, “continued to beseech the president, giving voice to the growing impatience for action among Obama’s base.”

“Please use your executive order to halt deportation for all 11.5 million undocumented immigrants in this country right now!” he screamed.  “You have a power to stop all deportations.”

“Actually I don’t.  That’s why we’re here,” Obama replied, facing the heckler.

“Several audience members began chanting: “Stop deportations! Stop deportations!”

“But the unrest quickly settled as Secret Service agents moved in.”

‘Obama, the Sly’ then called off the bodyguards, saying, “Don’t worry about it guys.  These guys don’t need to go.”

The White House-arranged ‘crowd’ cheered.

“I understand the passion of these young people, because they feel deeply about the concerns for their families,” Obama said.

The only hecklers Obama understands are the ones he brings with him to promote his agenda.  Tea Party patriots, Second Amendment advocates, anti-abortion Christians and supporters of the Constitution are categorized by his government as “racists” whose activities are under complete surveillance by the NSA.

In the cunning world of Obama Marxism on display, it is easy to tell the real hecklers from the phony, White House-arranged ones.  Real hecklers, who will be out in full force in 2014 and beyond,  chant “USA!” “USA!”

Oh, for criminy sake:

Quote
Yesterday’s heckler at Obama’s pro-amnesty speech in San Francisco was Ju Hong, an approved guest of the White House and an illegal alien from South Korea who recently graduated from UC Berkeley. People who still say illegal aliens “live in the shadows” obviously don’t know this guy: He’s on Twitter and LinkedIn, was a member of student government, has lobbied for taxpayer subsidies for illegal-alien students, and has been the subject of so much fawning news coverage he has his own topic page at the Cal student paper.

The salient fact here for immigration policy is that he came with his family on a tourist visa, and never left. Visa overstayers are believed to represent between a third and a half of the 12 million illegal aliens in the United States — and with improvements in border enforcement it’s possible the majority of new illegal aliens are overstayers. That translates to 4 to 6 million liars, people who swore they’d leave when their visit was over but didn’t, something at least as contemptible as sneaking into someone else’s country. Hong came as a child, so he wasn’t doing the lying, but he’s no more entitled to stay than the child of someone who lied on a mortgage application and later lost his home.

There are also more Korean illegal aliens than you might think. For instance, nearly 7,000 South Korean illegal aliens have been amnestied by Obama’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (a.k.a. the administrative Dream Act) through the end of August, making it the No. 5 country after Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

The reason we have 4 to 6 million illegal-alien visa overstayers is that we have no effective way of tracking the departure of foreign visitors. This despite the fact that Congress has mandated the development of an exit-tracking system eight separate times, starting in 1996. As Homeland Security secretary, Janet Napolitano dismissed the importance of exit-tracking. At a 2009 hearing, she told Senator Dianne Feinstein the “value of that system to security is dubious.” While the Schumer-Rubio amnesty bill passed by the Senate in June made development of such a system a sort-of prerequisite before amnestied former illegal aliens upgrade to full green-card status, the ten-year deadline would mean that exit-tracking wouldn’t be in place until more than a quarter-century after Congress’s original mandate.

Exacerbating this problem with regard to South Korea and other countries is the Visa Waiver Program. As the name suggests, people from the 37 countries on the list don’t have to get visas for short tourist or business trips. Only those countries whose citizens are very unlikely to overstay are supposed to be included in the program. Unfortunately, the main force expanding the list of participating countries has been lobbying pressure from the travel industry and foreign governments. South Korea was added in 2008 and Greece — Greece — in 2010. This has been a significant driver of illegal immigration; the GAO reported earlier this year that, of a very large sample of apparent overstays, nearly half were people who entered under the Visa Waiver Program.

With a proper exit-tracking system, and guaranteed follow-up arrests of all those who overstay more than a couple of weeks, we could afford to make our visa process more flexible. But as it is, we grant visas to people who shouldn’t get them, waive visas for countries that send large number of illegal aliens, don’t have any comprehensive way of knowing whether visitors have left when they were supposed to, and don’t bother even to send a notification postcard to people we do know overstayed. It’s no surprise, then, that there are millions of illegals like Ju Hong. But until we’ve fixed these problems, there can be no justification for amnesty; otherwise, we’ll just have millions more Ju Hongs that the Democrats, and their GOP enablers, will insist have to be amnestied.
