Dem Congressional aides bitching about Obamacare
Thomas Lifson

OK, I am a bad person because I am really enjoying the pain that Democrats are experiencing over Obamacare. Jonathan Allen and Jennifer Haberkorn report on Politico:

Quote

Veteran House Democratic aides are sick over the insurance prices they'll pay under Obamacare, and they're scrambling to find a cure.

"In a shock to the system, the older staff in my office (folks over 59) have now found out their personal health insurance costs (even with the government contribution) have gone up 3-4 times what they were paying before," Minh Ta, chief of staff to Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.), wrote to fellow Democratic chiefs of staff in an email message obtained by POLITICO. "Simply unacceptable."

The German word schadenfreude is suddenly on the tip of the tongue of many conservatives, and for good reason. The best part of it is that people who consider themselves smarter than the rest of us suddenly find themselves regretting their high-handedness in foisting OCare on us.

Democrat congressional chiefs of staff, the people who supposedly read the bill before their bosses voted on it are caught.  It's one thing for the flyovers who struggle to pay taxes and afford braces for their kids to get have to fork over more money in the name of fairness, but it's quite another for congressional aides, who, after all, live in the richest and most expensive city in the country to have to pay more. They're public servants, doncha know.

They didn't expect this to happen. There just wasn't time to make "an informed decision."

Quote
Under the Affordable Care Act, and federal regulations, many congressional staffers - designated as "official" aides - were forced to move out of the old heavily subsidized Federal Employees Health Benefits program and into the District of Columbia's health insurance marketplace exchange. Others designated as "unofficial" were allowed to stay in the FEHB program. Managers had to choose whether aides were "official" or "unofficial" by Oct. 31, and Ta said that wasn't enough time to make an informed decision about who would benefit and who would lose out by going into the new system.

People who have lost their health care insurance and have little time to make alternative arrangements have no sympathy.

You made your beds, now sleep in them. But there is one saving grace. Many of your Democrat congressman bosses will be defeated in 2014, and you can get honest work elsewhere.

Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit calls it "The feel good story of the week."
