Feds Use Intimidation to Confiscate WWII Vet's Assets

Is the confiscation of this WW II hero's gold and silver what's eventually in store for the rest of us?

I posted an article about 10 days ago which outlined the ongoing court battle that WW II veteran and war hero, Ren Bodeker, has been waging with the bankruptcy court to keep his property in rural Montana.  You can read the original article here.  Now, the Trustee wants to elongate this 91 yr. old man's anguish into next year by postponing the scheduled Dec 5th hearing until January of 2014.

One could argue that by moving this hearing date, it could benefit the government in 2 ways.  First, January weather in Montana can be dicey.  People coming to Missoula from around the state to support Ren will need to go over one or more mountain passes to get there, and there is no small crowd of supporters who plan on attending.  Ren has the overwhelming support of the community, even amongst some of those who "wear the uniform."    renn-bodeketSure Montanans are tough, but they are also wise to the dangers of mountain weather; and an un-timely snowstorm would substantially decrease Ren's support.

Second, as I stated earlier Ren is 91 yrs. old.  One may conclude that it would be awfully convenient for the government if he would, oh I don't know, die.  I hate to sound harsh, but you are fooling yourself if you do not think those kinds of factors are in play here.  91 years old, battling illness, time is on their side.  Many of you donated to Ren's defense when I posted the original story, and for that I say, "Thank you." I spoke to Ren's power of attorney Friday to get the account info, and the donated money will be transferred to Ren's defense account this week.

At the end of this article, I am going to post a list of people who all of you can contact that can influence Ren's hearing.  But first, I want to go over what transpired to bring us to where we are now.  And, how the maneuvering by the government in this case may be a foretaste of how they are going to legislate you out of your assets.  I received a personal e-mail from one of Ren's fellow soldiers who is also an Oath Keeper.  In his correspondence, he pointed out specific actions taken against Ren by the government and what has happened to Ren so far in this case.  It is this soldier's e-mail that I will be using for reference.  I contacted him and was able to verbally corroborate the veracity of his e-mail to me.

In summary, things in Ren Bodeker's life started to go badly when his wife, Lorna, was diagnosed with cancer in 2007.  After a five year battle, Lorna succumbed to the disease in 2012.  Bills mounted, and Ren, well past his working years and on a fixed income, had no choice but to seek bankruptcy protection.  So far, nothing all too unusual.  However, things started to get nasty once the Trustee became aware that Ren had about 60K worth of precious metals buried around the property that he had not claimed during the bankruptcy proceedings.  In Ren's defense, he was advised that no bankruptcy proceedings could take his retirement.  Well, that is what Ren had in mind with the buried gold and silver.

Keep in mind that he is 91, and he grew up in a different era than 99% of those who may read this.  Using Ren's failure to disclose his precious metals holdings as leverage, the Trustee coerced Ren to sign away his homestead rights on the property (which he owned), in lieu of being whisked away to Federal prison for attempting to fraud the government.  Sadly, his legal counsel at the time advised him to "take the deal" for a non-crime.  Of course, his precious metals, along with many additional assets, were confiscated in the process.  It should also be noted that many of these things transpired while Ren himself was battling cancer, at some points while hospitalized.  So, here's the kicker in this: The Trustee, Christy Brandon, serves as both the trustee for the estate and also as the lawyer for the estate (yes, you read that right).  But wait, it gets better. Christy Brandon also serves as the attorney for herself, as trustee!  Read that once more.  For you attorneys out there, sweet deal, huh?  A couple more points to make before I conclude.

A. Ren had a land patent on his land- A powerful document of ownership which is being ignored by the government.  See more at Wikipedia here, but do additional research since this article lacks sufficient scholarship.

B. Ren was covered under the Homestead Exemption Act.  See here.  That's why he was coerced to sign this right away under fear of incarceration.

C. As we all do, Ren has the right to determine how, and in what form, he saves for his retirement.  Perhaps it's gold and silver for him- for someone else maybe its Beanie Babies.  Regardless, your retirement is off-limits in a bankruptcy proceeding.  The job of the bankruptcy court IS NOT to make you broke, homeless and dependent upon the State.  That's Obama's job.

Before you dismiss the plight of this veteran because he lives perhaps hundreds of miles away, or because your living situation and retirement is secure and you're content with reading this and saying, "Glad it's not me."  Allow me to leave you with one of my all-time favorite quotes:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.
