"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Having done such a bang-up job w/ healthcare, it's time for government to move on to the immigration problem...

This past weekend, I went to a gathering set up by my liberal brother. My brother is a rabid liberal who tends to run conservatives off from his circle of friends, (and family). There were a few conservatives there, but we were decidedly outnumbered. I tried to avoid being "that guy" and drone on about politics at a party. But, I was quite encouraged to note whenever I could slip in a reference to Obamacare, the reaction was almost universal... a sort of gagging and rolling of the eyes.

If, and this is a huge if, Republicans can keep low profile, and avoid having some of the nuttier members of the party come forward, there can be some damage done in 2014. It's a different standard for Republicans. Democrats have their nut cases, Pelosi, Wasserman-Schultz, Grayson, Rangel, etc. But, the media ignores them. If a Republican pipes up with some goofy stuff, that Republican becomes the standard bearer for all conservatives, everywhere. So, it's not that Republicans draw dumber members to the party, it's that the media is just that corrupt.
