He's trying to convince people that he believes his own BS.  Nobody buys this.  Nobody.  This is why so many Dhimmies are hitting the panic button, and so many Republican candidates are salivating over the race to come.

My biggest worry is that we cannot undo the damage fast enough.  I fear he has us close to the tipping point in more ways than one.
