For the progressive, there is very little to love about the United States. Washington, Jefferson, Madison? A bunch of rotten slaveholders, hypocrites, and cowards even when their hearts were in the right places. The Declaration of Independence? A manifesto for the propertied classes. The Constitution? An artifact of sexism and white supremacy. The sacrifices in the great wars of the 20th century? Feeding the poor and the disenfranchised into the meat-grinder of imperialism. The gifts of Carnegie, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Morgan, Astor? Blood money from self-aggrandizing robber barons. Nat Rev

Umm...it's no longer America now.  It's Soviet America...oh, saw a Hillary 2016 bumper sticker yesterday.  Lenin to Stalin.

It's not just the influx that has destroyed us. Electing presidents and congress people that also have no sense of American history and culture has played a large role. Their idea of making America better by making it more like Indonesia or Mexico or England or whatever should never have been tolerated.

There is a bit of a problem with the Southwest and illegals.  It was their land, we won the war and annexed it but the "peasants" don't really care.  It's a problem through history.
What are we supposed to do, hang them at random from trees?  Tell me what's the difference between them and Indians?  Put them on reservations and hope they die from disease, beat their wives and drink themselves to death until they learn to open a casino?
We can choose to talk to the power in Mexico City, tell them to keep the kids in the yard and stop collecting baseballs and frisbees or start building internment camps and charging them room, board and upkeep.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

What are we supposed to do

Stop making it so comfortable for them to be here. We give them money, benefits, licenses, protection from laws, etc. Why wouldn't they come here? Take away the welcome wagon and they will stop coming and those that are here would return to where they came from. Of course, that won't happen. Instead, it's only a matter of time before we allow them to vote. Many of them do so illegally already.

It's a tragic piece of history that we are being forced to watch.  Interesting times.  I'm glad I'm older rather than younger.

I heard Glenn Beck the other day, just a fragment of what he was talking about.  That the next revolution could be a GLOBAL revolution.  It wlll happen at the same time all over the world, thanks to Twitter, Facebook etc.

Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Actually the Mexican government didn't want it and were more than happy to offload it.... plus when our government signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo with the Mexican government we handed them $15 million dollars for the land and the borders between our nations were drawn for Texas at the Rio Grande  and the United States was given California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado.   At the same time the Mexicans living in the newly United States were given the choice to relocate to Mexico or stay and be full American citizens.  Over 90% remained. All these people now claiming LaRaza and Reconquista  have been sold a bill of goods that this land was stolen, it was never stolen it was bought and paid for - with a LOT of American blood.

BTW there is no border harder to cross than the Mexican border with Guatamala.. the last thing the Mexican government wants is more poor people immigrating illegally into Mexico... but they love sending their poor and uneducated to cross our border illegally.  They even give them maps and how-to's on what to do when they arrive here.

For the record I have a lot of empathy for Indians and they should actually be a warning for us as nothing is more socialized than living on a reservation.  They never should have been relegated to reservations...

Nations have a life cycle. We are at the end of ours, it would seem.

Cultures, which are broader than mere nation-states, also have life cycles - see Spengler's The Decline of the West - and it seems obvious from the present-day vantage point that the West, which includes the United States, is nearing the end of its cultural life cycle.  Spengler's opus might have to be updated with the new title The Decline and Fall of the West.
