Dan Rather: CBS 'airbrushed' me from history, 'like the Kremlin'
« on: November 16, 2013, 09:53:44 AM »
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Rather was always a hanger on and news fabricator.  He tried out the Walter Cronkite seat
but failed as he was not the ultimate liar that Walter was.

A rank liar does not hold a position for long.  Perhaps only for the entertainment value.

You need a PhD in Lying to survive at CBS.

All the best,
Al

Quote from Jonah Goldberg's Schadenfreudrama piece (which I loved)--

"Indeed, not since Dan Rather handcuffed himself to a fraudulent typewriter, hurled it into the abyss, and saw his career plummet like Ted Kennedy was behind the wheel have I enjoyed a story more."

"There can only be one Sun in the sky."  Attributed to Lenin regarding Trotsky's contribution to the Revolution and spreading credit.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

The quote appears to be attributed to several folks, including NZ Prime Minister Joseph Ward in a 1908 discussion with a Maori chief:  http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10860565

Nonetheless, it's apropos.

It's a sad little man who at 82 has nothing more to offer than whining about being caught for whoppers than no honorable man would have ever told.

You  should have made better choices, Danny........
Character still matters.  It always matters.
