Notice Anything Strange About This Popular Children’s Book?

A children’s book called “Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt,” which is part of the internationally best-selling Geronimo Stilton series, appears to have left a country off its map of Egypt and its neighbors: Israel.
Here is a photo of the page in question, via Amazon:

The map focuses on Egypt, indicating Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and Jordan and Saudi Arabia to the east, but fails to indicate in any way the existence of Israel bordering Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. Instead, the entire space is identified only as “Jordan.”
In reality, here is where Israel falls on a map, courtesy of the CIA World Factbook:
Originally an Italian series that was picked up by Scholastic Paperbacks, the book was published in English in June of 2012. The omission just now appears to be making news, however.
The Times of Israel was one of the first to report on the inaccurate map, quoting a Jerusalem resident named Adina Golombek who wanted to show her son where they lived.
“…But it didn’t say Israel on the map; instead it said Jordan,” she told The Times of Israel. “I showed him the problem and drew in the border of where Israel is today.”
Scholastic has admitted to the error, and says it is taking immediate steps to correct the map.
“Thea Stilton and the Blue Scarab Hunt, a title in the Geronimo Stilton series, published by Scholastic, includes a map that inadvertently omits Israel,” Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications Kyle Good told TheBlaze in an email. “Scholastic is stopping shipment on this title, revising the map, and going back to reprint. We regret the omission which was in the original version of the book published in Italy and was translated by our company for English language distribution.”
