Dem. Rep Who Called Obama ‘Grossly Misleading’ Made Same Health-Care Promise
By  Andrew Johnson

Representative Kurt Schrader may have had harsh words for President Obama for his “grossly misleading” promise that Americans could keep their health-care plans, but the Oregon Democrat made the same guarantee to his constituents in the past.

On his website, Schrader featured a “Frequently Asked Questions” section about the Affordable Care Act. One of the questions asks how people who already have insurance will be affected. “If you are insured and are happy with your current coverage, nothing changes,” the website reads. The section has since been taken down. Below is a screenshot of the image, courtesy of the National Republican Congressional Committee:

Additionally, in 2010, Schrader made a similar promise in a statement shortly after the law passed: “If individuals like their current plan they may keep that plan for as long as they would like under the final proposal.”

Schrader’s district, Oregon’s Fifth, is relatively competitive for a largely blue state. He won the seat by six points in 2010, and twelve points in 2012.
