Was Reagan's election an aberration?
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:23:35 pm »
Just thinking back on Republican presidents.  How many really were "Conservative".  Maybe what's his name is correct.  Maybe Conservatives are the real RINOs.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

We know what the Tea Party stands for.  We know what Conservatives stand for.  Does anyone know what Republicans stand for these days?

No, it wasn't an aberration...if you are an optimistic person at heart.

The middle aged and young had never experienced hardship and after gas lines and sweaters and 'malaise' and thermostats at 68....the country needed to take a shower.

The rest is history.  A great leader.  Ronald Reagan!   :patriot:

The right man at the right time...doesn't happen very often. If that's what is meant by aberration, well, OK. But I don't think that is what was meant by that statement.

If it was we need more - not less - since no one in either party has won and then been re-elected with such a large margin since.

Okay, I didn't mean aberration in a negative way.  I meant it as the election got away from the "Powers".  I think they were pushing Bush the I and Reagan just overwhelmed by power of personality.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

This is true.
