Liberal Pundit Claims It’s Our Fault that Obama Lied to Us

That’s right. Obama lied to you. But it’s your fault.

Obama wanted social justice. But selfish and greedy Americans weren’t ready to pay thousands more a year to finance sex change operations and mental health treatment for all.

So he had to lie and tell us that we could keep our health plans and our doctors.

But lying doesn’t make Obama a bad person. It makes us bad people for making him lie to us.

All that sounds entirely ethical and moral if you’re a liberal, which is why the country is in the mess that it is. And it comes to us from Century Foundation fellow Michael Cohen and the Daily News, which has become a print version of the Huffington Post and twice as shrill.

In selling the health-care plan that bears his name, President Obama has, according to the fact-checking website Politifact, said at least 34 times that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it.” That statement was not completely true, and it’s a lie that is today causing the President no end of political headaches.

A truer way to say “not completely true” would be “completely untrue”. But that’s just the beginning of the ways that Michael Cohen reinvents truth.

Still, before we fully castigate the President for his rhetorical flights of fancy, it’s important to keep in mind that Obama was — to a large degree — telling Americans what they wanted to hear

Also before we castigate Nixon for his “rhetorical flights of fancy”, we should also keep in mind that he was telling Americans what they wanted to hear.

And in defense of most con artists, they’re just telling people what they want to hear.

Americans regularly express dissatisfaction with the status quo and demand political change. But at the same time, they recoil at any reform that affects them directly.

Wait… so Americans want political change, but they hate getting kicked in the teeth? Isn’t that ridiculously hypocritical of them?

That’s like saying that you want to buy a car, but you don’t want it to burst into flame as you leave the used car dealer lot. Why are people so spoiled?
Cohen than recites the usual liberal lies about

1. Workers with employer health plans being unaffected

2. People who are losing their health plans having such bad insurance that they “could barely be considered insurance”.

These are both shameless gratuitous lies. Or as Michael Cohen would put it, “rhetorical flights of fancy”. But that’s okay. Michael is only lying to Daily News readers because they want to be lied to.

That these Americans would not be able to keep their plans was not a bug of Obamacare; it was the point. But, of course, this means that some Americans would not only lose their plans and access to their doctor, but in the case of particularly healthy individuals, reform could yield higher premiums.

Those damn “particularly healthy individuals” who are just so bursting with health that they didn’t even need insurance.

But for once Michael Cohen is belatedly telling the truth. Or part of it. Killing free market individual health plans was one of the objectives of ObamaCare. Those people who paid less and got more, will now pay more and get less.

But… but it was for the GREATER GOOD

Acknowledging that reality would have been the honest thing to do. So would asking healthier and wealthier Americans to sacrifice for the greater good of ensuring every American have health-care coverage.

Sadly those healthy bastards were selfish. They didn’t want to pay for maternity coverage if they were 65. They didn’t want policies that covered sex change operations if they were sane. They didn’t want expensive policies they didn’t need.

So they had to be lied to.

But doing so would have opened Obama and his democratic allies up to the charge that Obamacare would lead to widespread dislocations — and made the path to reform that much politically harder to traverse.

So Obama had to lie. He had no choice. If he wanted to accomplish his goals. Why don’t we understand that ends justify the means?

Indeed, this is precisely the argument that was made by Republicans who regularly — and untruthfully — charged Obama with seeking a government takeover of health care, among other ills.

And we know the Republicans are lying… because Obama is always truthful. Like Michael Cohen. He wouldn’t possibly lie about a government takeover of health care… unless it would make the path to reform that much politically harder to traverse.

This is America’s schizophrenia. On the one hand the ingrained belief that centralized government power is an unqualified danger coupled with a deep fear that any new initiative will bring unacceptable disruption. On the other, a hunger, even demand, for change.

This is only a paradox to a moron. A liberal moron.

It’s possible to want change that doesn’t result in centralized government power. Notably Michael Cohen, a fellow for a liberal foundation, can’t even conceive of any notion of progress detached from progressivism and big government.

So accuse Obama of lying about health-care reform — but understand the simple underlying reality: we can’t handle the truth.

That’s right.

We petit bourgeois swine can’t handle the truth. And who’s going to stay up all night at a five star hotel plotting how to reform healthcare if not for the liberal activist? Are you going to do it? What about you? Or you?

You weep for all the people who lost their health insurance. You have that luxury. But Obama doesn’t have that luxury. Because he knows that while taking away their health insurance was tragic, it saved the lives of many Sandra Flukes. And his existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives.
You don’t want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don’t talk about on your blogs, you want Obama in that five star hotel lying to you about how he’s going to take away your health insurance. You need him in that five star hotel.

We use words like progress, regulation and mandate…we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use ‘em as a punchline.

Obama has neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very death panels he provides and then questions the manner in which he provides them. He’d rather you just thank you and maxed out your donations to OFA. Otherwise get a job telling crazy lies at the Daily News.

For the greater good.
