Exclusive: David Kupelian outs the president's secret tricks, techniques, tactics
Published: 22 hours ago

David Kupelian is an award-winning journalist, managing editor of WND and editor of Whistleblower magazine. A widely read online columnist, he is also the best-selling author of "The Marketing of Evil" and "How Evil Works.".

“This isn’t some damn game!”

That was House Speaker John Boehner’s angry reaction to a senior Obama administration official who had boasted, “We are winning. … It doesn’t really matter to us [how long the government shutdown lasts] because what matters is the end result.”

But despite Boehner’s understandable frustration, a “damn game” is precisely what it was.

Just as with the president’s serial “if-you-like-your-policy-you-can-keep-it-period” Obamacare lies, his actions during last month’s government “shutdown” – you know, barring 80- to-90-year-old World War II veterans in wheelchairs from their own memorial, blocking highway turnouts so sightseers couldn’t gaze up at Mt. Rushmore, threatening to arrest Catholic priests if they conducted Mass on military bases – are all part of a carefully calculated, high-stakes game.

In fact, a close and honest examination reveals that Americans have been living through an extended era of games being played on them – not just in fraudulently imposing Obamacare and staging a government “shutdown,” but nonstop, throughout the course of the entire Obama presidency.

‘Divide and Conquer’

During the 1960s, one of the hottest nonfiction books was Eric Berne’s “Games People Play,” which sold more than 5 million copies in 20 languages and spent 100 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Berne, a psychiatrist, analyzed manipulative social interactions as “games,” which he defined as a series of “ulterior transactions progressing to a well-defined, predictable outcome.” By “ulterior,” Berne was referring to the game-player’s “concealed motivation.”

According to the official Eric Berne website, set up by the late author’s family:

One can think of a game as a series of interactions (words, body language, facial expressions, etc.) between two or more people that follow a predictable pattern. The interactions ultimately progress to an outcome in which one individual obtains a “payoff” or “goal.”

Berne assigned humorous names to the many hidden games people play with each other, such as “If It Weren’t for You,” “See What You Made Me Do” and “Now I’ve Got You, You Son of a Bitch.”

But consider now the macrocosm of power politics in today’s America, where we were recently treated to a big game of chicken called “Shut Down the Government,” enabled by two other standard leftist games – “Make It Hurt” and “Blame the Republicans.”

Indeed, “Blame the Republicans” is a game designed to serve a major long-term strategy called “Fracture the Republican Party,” a leftist version of the ancient war strategy of “Divide and Conquer.”

If left-wing political games sound a little like war, that’s because they are a form of war.

But let’s start at the beginning.

Games, especially team sports, have always been mock battles. There are playing fields instead of battlefields, but the object is always to win – to use superior numbers, force and speed, and to employ brilliant strategies and tactics, especially deception (fake handoffs in football, head fakes in basketball) – to defeat the adversary. As Sun Tzu said, “War is deception.”

In the most fundamental sense, someone who is deceiving, lying and pretending all the time is playing games – always tricking, always misdirecting, always seeking unfair advantage. Thus it is that for Barack Obama, whose modus operandi is always to conceal his true motives and designs, everything is by definition a game. And a war.

The Obama games

Let’s survey a quick sampling of the games Obama plays:

Game: ‘Health-care Reform’

Stated purpose: “Comprehensive reforms that improve access to affordable health coverage for everyone and protect consumers from abusive insurance company practices.”

Actual purpose: Massive takeover of one-sixth of the entire U.S. economy and ultimately the establishment (through Obamacare’s intentional and inevitable destruction of private health insurance) of a true “single-payer” system – that is, socialized medicine.

Payoff: A permanent, vast increase in government control over virtually every aspect of Americans’ lives. Since so many things affect people’s health, once the government is paying for all health care, it will progressively regulate and control individuals’ lives to minimize their health risks – what they eat, what they do, what they drive, what kind of entertainment they watch – everything.

Game: ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’

Stated purpose: “To fix America’s broken immigration system, to grow our economy and give undocumented youth and their families the chance to earn their citizenship.”

Actual purpose: The creation of tens of millions of newly minted Democrat voters.

Payoff: A voting coalition that will permanently keep progressives in power in America.

Game: ‘Support Marriage Equality and LGBT Rights’

Stated purpose: “To support equal rights for all Americans and to offer hope to young people who are being bullied or harassed because of their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Actual purpose: To lock in the “gay community” as a voting bloc and source of ongoing financial support while further marginalizing and disempowering conservative Christians.

Payoff: Consolidate an important part of the permanent progressive voting coalition.

Game: ‘Energy, Climate Change and Our Environment’

Stated purpose: “To take unprecedented action to build the foundation for a clean-energy economy, tackle the issue of climate change and protect our environment.”

Actual purpose: Use ideologically driven, environmental pseudo-science as a basis for energy and environmental policies – such as blocking the Keystone pipeline – that cripple development of America’s prodigious oil, gas and coal reserves and cause energy prices to skyrocket. Meanwhile, Obama pretends to be enthralled by alternative energy, about which he knows virtually nothing, because supporting and funding it serves as a subterfuge for weakening (through over-regulation) America’s once-powerful energy sector.

Payoff: Maintain and increase U.S. dependence on foreign energy as part of the Obama grand strategy of reducing the power, stature and influence of America as the world’s “sole superpower,” which he and other anti-American leftists regard as predatory and destructive of world peace and justice.

Game: ‘Gun Violence Prevention’

Stated purpose: “To better protect our children and our communities by reducing gun violence in America.”

Actual purpose: To make it more difficult and expensive – or impossible – for American citizens to exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Payoff: Since a well-armed populace is historically the No. 1 citizen check on tyrannical government (and the reason the founders enshrined it in the Second Amendment), banning or reducing civilian ownership of firearms leads inevitably to greater opportunity for oppression by government.

Game: ‘The Stimulus’

Stated purpose: “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was passed to stimulate the economy in the midst of the Great Recession, save existing jobs, immediately create shovel-ready projects and to invest in infrastructure, education, health and renewable energy.”

Actual purpose: A slush-fund to further Democratic Party tax-and-spend policies, pay public employee union pension and health-care costs, fund pet projects like Solyndra and Lightspeed and provide pork for Democratic districts and states.

Payoff: At an astronomical price tag of more than $800 billion, the stimulus failed to help the economy, reduce unemployment or create “shovel-ready jobs.” (Obama admitted in 2010 “there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects.”) But the almost trillion-dollar spending spree “spread the wealth around” to Obama’s friends and supporters while creating the appearance of doing something to help an economy ravaged largely by Democrat policies.

Game: ‘Free and Fair Elections’

Stated purpose: “To maximize voting and to counteract Republican voter suppression in the form of Voter ID laws that tend to discriminate against minorities.”

Actual purpose: To get the Justice Department to sue states over the most reasonable and common-sense election laws requiring that voters identify themselves, for the sole purpose of enabling and encouraging every possible form of vote fraud and abuse – including voting after impersonating a registered voter, repeat voting, non-citizen and illegal-alien voting, felon voting, voting in more than one state and so on – since statistically such fraudulently cast ballots are usually Democratic.

Payoff: Rampant voter fraud and abuse which, considered collectively in all their various forms, are likely sufficient to make up the margin of difference in a close election and bring victory to Democrat candidates.

Game: ‘The Republican War on Women’

Stated purpose: “Women’s rights are being denied or abridged by Republicans, whose desire to deny women contraception is rooted in an unconstitutional imposition of their religious views on other citizens, and which threaten the basic rights of women.”

Actual purpose: This game, fabricated entirely by the left (when contraceptives, an utter non-issue, was forcibly inserted into the presidential debates by the Obama-supporting establishment media), claims women’s rights are being thwarted by misogynistic Republicans. In reality, the only “war on women” is the one supported wholeheartedly by the Democratic Party – including feminist-inspired “no-fault divorce” which leaves millions of children fatherless and wives destitute, and abortion, which harms countless women and kills more than a million babies (half of which are female) every year in the U.S.

Payoff: Women swung the election in 2012, when 55 percent of female voters cast their ballots for Obama, compared with only 44 percent for Romney.

Game: ‘Support the Arab Spring, Oppose Dictators and Help Forge Mideast Peace’

Stated purpose: “To support the many democracy uprisings throughout the Arab-Muslim world, help depose dictators and encourage and advise Israel in achieving a lasting peace with its Palestinian neighbors.”

Actual purpose: In virtually every conflict in the Middle East, Obama has inexplicably supported the wrong side, from Egypt to Libya, and has inserted himself into the brutal Syrian civil war, providing support for the Muslim Brotherhood and even al-Qaida affiliates. Yet he mysteriously failed to support – in word or deed – the genuine 2011 Iranian revolt when thousands of anti-government protesters called for an end to the terror-sponsoring regime that rules that country. Many were shocked that Obama stood on the sidelines and said nothing when the protesters urgently needed his support in overturning one of the most evil governments on earth.

Payoff: The only payoff resulting from Obama’s actions with regard to the various Arab Spring uprisings has been the growth and expansion of Islamic radicalism.

Game: ‘Negotiate with Iranian Leaders’

Stated purpose: “President Obama is willing to negotiate with Iranian leaders in hopes of bringing a lasting peace to the Middle East by convincing Iran to give up its quest for nuclear weapons.”

Actual purpose: Iran, the world’s leading terrorist nation, which routinely and openly threatens to annihilate the state of Israel and kill its people, is playing a game for more time to develop nuclear weapons.

Payoff: In the short term, both sides appear to win. For sheer optics, Obama gets to act out his narcissistic delusions of grandeur and to step in – much like Neville Chamberlain – to grasp “peace in our time” through brilliant diplomacy with Iranian leaders. In reality, the real winner is Iran, which wins the precious time it needs to complete its development of a deployable and deliverable nuclear bomb. Worse, Obama’s amateur and naïve “diplomacy” with Iran makes it even harder for Israel – living under an existential threat from an imminently nuclear Iran – to attack that nation’s nuclear installations preemptively.

About those delusions of grandeur

What kind of person is Barack Obama that makes him always deceitful, always in “game mode”?

Since the current president has often been characterized by mental health professionals and others as highly “narcissistic,” let’s consider the symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, the presence of any five of which are considered sufficient to merit a clinical diagnosis:
•Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
•Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love
•Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
•Requires excessive admiration
•Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
•Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
•Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
•Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
•Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

This symptom list constitutes an eerily accurate behavioral portrait of Barack Obama. And clearly, someone with such disturbing attributes would be very prone to playing games (manipulating and deceiving others) to get his way.

Following the ‘rules’

Games have rules. So what are Obama’s?

Americans have a rulebook for government and citizenship called “The Constitution of the United States.” And for our culture and morality, indeed the very foundation of our laws and fundamental values, we have long relied on a rulebook called “The Holy Bible.”

But Barack Obama does not embrace either the Bible or the Constitution, and in fact has publicly criticized and denigrated both.

So, what are the 44th president’s rules? Yes, he has rules, but not in the traditional sense of principles designed to facilitate order and fairness; rather, his “rules” are devious battle tactics for wresting power, and they come directly from Chicago Marxist Saul Alinsky. Remember, Obama practiced and taught Alinsky’s methods. While campaigning for the presidency, Obama said of his years steeped in Alinsky’s revolutionary “community organizing” methods: “It was that education that was seared into my brain. It was the best education I ever had, better than anything I got at Harvard Law School.”

If you distill Alinsky’s last and most famous book, “Rules for Radicals,” into one overriding operating principle, the one that makes the rest of his ideas work – it would be intimidation.

As I explain in “How Evil Works”:

To put it bluntly, for Alinsky’s “community organizing” rules – which Obama says were “seared into my brain” – to really work, the general public must be made to feel intimidated, upset, frustrated and hopeless. Alinsky explained why:

“Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution.”

That’s you – you are supposed to feel “defeated” and “lost,” and the radicals’ efforts are directed at making you feel that way.

But, what if you’re a fighter and stand up to the would-be revolutionaries’ abuses and usurpations of power? Then you are to be attacked – here’s Alinsky rule No. 5:

“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”

What’s the purpose behind making people “infuriated” so they’ll “react to your advantage”? According to Alinsky:

“The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.”

This statement – “his reaction will be your major strength” – capsulizes a major operating principle of evil. When we’re intimidated and upset, when we emotionally overreact, we’re losing the battle.

The ultimate game

The ultimate game for the left – a “game” being a battle campaign in a long-term war to amass ever greater power – is “Playing God,” that is, attempting to replace God in the lives of the people. Remember, that’s why communism is atheistic; hardcore statists who want to play god don’t like competition.

Put another way, people who are happy, whole, successful, mature, full of faith and inwardly directed and motivated want nothing to do with people like Obama and other power-obsessed politicians. The left causes – and later, feeds on – misery and dysfunctionality. Leftist “leaders” literally need people to be needy, distraught, upset, angry, aggrieved and feeling like helpless victims. If you have any doubts about this analysis, take a good hard look at what kinds of people and groups comprise each major party’s voting coalitions.

Understand that in this world there are personality types that thrive on dysfunctional people needing them. The thrill of being needed makes such people feel alive – makes them “glow” inside. But what’s glowing is their sick ego, and this unhealthy, parasitic “need to be needed” inevitably becomes a compulsion to promote ever greater dependency. Why? For the power they obtain.

This is how the Democratic Party operates today, and is why more and more people are dependent on government than ever – because the Obama crowd secretly wants it that way, since the more people depend on government, the more powerful and entrenched such government will be. And to them, power is all that matters.

In trying to compute all of this, our minds reel as we confront the fact that we’re dealing with real evil in high places. In desperation, we may resort to searching out alternative explanations: Maybe Obama really means well, but is in thrall to an overly idealistic ideology. Maybe he really believes abortion-on-demand is necessary for the health of women. Maybe he and his advisers are just naïve and think it’s smart to make nice with the Muslim Brotherhood. Maybe he really believes it’s necessary to block U.S. energy companies from making America energy-independent to protect the environment. We entertain these nonsensical explanations in our minds because facing the truth can be painful – for some of us, too painful, so we live in denial.

But the plain truth is that we twice elected as president a man in the grip of dark forces. For whatever reasons, he displays a mysterious aversion to what is good, and an equally mysterious attraction to what is bad.

Thus, in his attempts to “transform” America to match his inner delusions as to what a just society should look like, he constantly plays games with us – “damn games” as Boehner complained – which in reality are a form of warfare aimed at bringing about revolutionary change.
