CONGRATULATIONS, BRITAIN! Your growing ‘Islamophobia’ warrants a whole month of celebrations

islamophobia

The month of November sees the launch of the second ‘Islamophobia’ Awareness Month, first in 2012.  The month-long campaign will see activities and projects held throughout Britain to combat the continuing rising tide of ‘Islamophobia.’

Muslim Council of Britain  ‘Islamophobia’ or anti-Muslim hatred is reaching worrying heights in Britain, across Europe and globally. Racist and fascist fringe parties are gaining ground amidst economic crisis, and mainstream parties increasingly catering to populist, nativist and xenophobic electoral agendas fanned by sensationalist media scaremongering.

From the niqab ban and anti-sharia legislation, to erosion of civil liberties and racist discrimination in housing and employment, Islamophobic prejudice is now prevalent in the mainstream, on display in political life, in the media and in the attitudes of the police and the courts.

IAM coordinates a rich and diverse programme of events and activities organised with partners supporting the campaign to raise awareness and forge solidarities across anti-racist and anti-war agendas. The 1st anniversary will be marked on 25th November at the House of Commons London.

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin
