Netanyahu: 'This Is a Bad Deal--a Very, Very Bad Deal'
Daniel Halper

A very unusual statement from the Israel prime minister on the eve of a possible nuclear detail between the U.S. and Iran:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNeQlOTiR8

"I met Secretary Kerry right before he leaves to Geneva," said Netanyhau. "I reminded him that he said that no deal is better than a bad deal. That the deal that is being discussed in Geneva right now is a bad deal. It’s a very bad deal. Iran is not required to take apart even one centrifuge. But the international community is relieving sanctions on Iran for the first time after many years. Iran gets everything that it wanted at this stage and it pays nothing. And this is when Iran is under severe pressure. I urge Secretary Kerry not to rush to sign, to wait, to reconsider, to get a good deal. But this is a bad deal--a very, very bad deal. It’s the deal of a century for Iran; it’s a very dangerous and bad deal for peace and the international community."

Kerry: Israel Would Be Responsible for ‘Third Intifada’

BY:  Adam Kredo
November 8, 2013 9:00 am

The State Department on Thursday defended controversial comments by Secretary of State John Kerry after he warned Israel that it would be to blame for a “third intifada” and its own “isolation” should a peace deal with the Palestinians fall through.

Kerry has been in the Middle East this week pushing for renewed peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians amid an uptick in terrorism and violence.

In comments that some pro-Israel leaders deemed dangerous, Kerry warned the Israelis that “the alternative to getting back to the talks is the potential of chaos.”

“I mean, does Israel want a third intifada?” Kerry asked, referring to past Palestinian uprisings that have killed many Israeli citizens and soldiers.

“If we do not find a way to find peace, there will be an increasing isolation of Israel,” the AP quoted Kerry as saying in an interview with Israeli television.

“There will be an increasing campaign of de-legitimization of Israel [that] has been taking place in an international basis,” he said, adding that if Israel does not make a deal, “you may wind up with [a Palestinian] leadership that is committed to violence.”

Pro-Israel leaders, Middle East experts, and even some observers on Capitol Hill said that Kerry’s comments unfairly singled out Israel and only encourage Palestinian violence.

Kerry’s remarks are “utterly irresponsible,” according to Jonathan Schanzer, a Middle East expert who studies the region for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).

“It is almost an invitation for the Palestinians to engage in violence if and when talks fail,” he said. “It also looks like a way of blaming the Israelis in advance for the security collapse we’ve been warning about as a result of failed talks.”

A State Department official defended Kerry’s stance when contacted late Thursday by the Washington Free Beacon.

“The secretary has been clear from the beginning of this process that part of the reason he is so committed to these efforts is because the continued absence of peace has many negative consequences,” a State Department official told the Free Beacon after being asked to clarify Kerry’s remarks.

“As time passes, the situation on the ground becomes more complicated, mistrust deepens and hardens, and the conflict becomes even harder to resolve,” the official said. “It allows for vacuums to be filled by bad actors who want to undermine our efforts.”

“And the secretary has also spoken out many times not only about the potential negative impacts of not achieving peace, but the substantial positive impact for all that a peace agreement would provide,” according to the official. “That is where we are focused.”

However, some pro-Israel leaders and observers on Capitol Hill said that Kerry’s warning to Israel is indefensible.

“Putting Israel alone at fault for the stalled negotiations only fuels the dangerous narrative of Israel as the uncompromising aggressor and the Palestinians as the blameless victims,” said one senior GOP House aide who works on Middle East issues.

The headline could have just as easily been, "Kerry calls for Intifada!" That is how it will be reported in the M.E.

An overwhelming number of Jews voted for and support Obama. They think Obama will remember their support 'when the political winds shift in an ugly direction'. They are now, and always have been throughout history, wrong.

This Obama character is a strange bird though. And he is showing his colors more and more. He wants to fight Iran in Syria. But, he supports Iran against Israel.

That's interesting.

I'm done worrying about Jews. If they are stupid enough to support Obama, who is committed to the Mulsim Brotherhood who wants the destruction of Israel, Jews, and Judaism, then who am I to stand in their way? Let them eat matza...they get what they deserve. IMO

I presume you mean "motzo", or perhaps "matzah"....it really isn't clear which one you mean, and the difference between the two can be quite profound,  so could you please clarify that for us...???

It is just hard to translate the tsade to English.

BTW, I speak pretty good Hebrew, and lived in Israel for a few years. Israelis have enough enemies without having to count the majority of American Jews along with them in that group. The insanity of any Jew supporting Obama and his agenda makes my blood boil.

Romney, and even crazy McCain, would have been so much better for America, the world, and Israel. It was plain to see, but when you are obessed with ideology over reality, nothing else seems to matter to them.

Your point is well-taken.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Israel _is not_ going to take unilateral military action against Iran. If they were going to do so, they would have done it by now. The hour is growing late.

Perhaps the Israelis cannot "cross the line" to act without America's (Obama's) imprimatur. Their failure to do so, their unwillingness to even try, will be their undoing.

I've said it before on this forum (and on others), and I'll repeat it:
Remember the Israeli/Jewish cry of "never again" ?
It's going to happen again.

I would refine your statement to say that it is happening 'again', in exactly the same way with exactly the same characters involved. It is like we are in a rewind.

And that is why I said what I said. If American Jews are that freakin' stupid, then, then, are they really worth worrying about. I mean, it seems like that is what they want.

Like I said, Who am I, mee ani, to stand in their way. They are desperate to run off the cliff, and will trample to death anyone who gets in their path. "bon voyage", is the only thing left to say to them.

You know, speaking man to man, this whole Obama thing has given me a totally new perspective on the rise of Hilter. It really has me wondering about the sanity of Jewish people. Do they have a 'secret' inborn death-wish? What the hell is wrong with them?

There is a fundamental difference between Jews in America and Israelis. Think of it as the difference between the city dwellers and the people who won the west. Israelis have never been able to stop fighting since 1947. That is a long time to fight. Not only hostile neighbors, but the land itself. As you well know, it is a beautiful country, fertile, well irrigated and fruitful. It wasn't like that when the first settlers moved in. They built it, pretty much from scratch, while fight first the British, then the Arabs.

One of my uncles was part of the BEF in what was then called Palestine. When they withdrew, he stayed. Guess that technically made him a deserter, since he was never demobbed, but so what. He settled down, got some land, married a wonderful lady (Russian Jew) and together they built not only a thriving and profitable truck farm out of a chunk of land that was basically rock and dust but a wonderful (and large) family too. The couple of times I met him, he'd tell stories of building the irrigation system one rock at a time with his rifle slung on his back the whole time. Most Israelis are of the same stamp as my uncle and cousins.

American Jews, on the other hand, have the "go along to get along" mentality. It's a survival trait for immigrants in cities. Fit in. Don't make waves. Don't be noticed.

There has always been a certain socialistic tendency to Judaism. Witness the Kibbutz craze - though that is now calming down. An emphasis of the community over the individual.

Israel is America's ally, in a region which is volatile. Secretly, I believe Saudi Arabia depends on the US and Israel, to maintain relative stability--enough to ensure safe passages for oil transport, and avoidance of all out wars.

Israel depends on the US, as its best ally. I hope we fulfill that role.

The new leadership of Iran appears to be seeking normalization, and more rational policies. If they attack Israel or Saudi Arabia, they bring the US into their war.
