The stated goal for enrollments in the system by mid October, that was previously provided to the Committee, was 494,000 people.

Pretty clear that the Administrator responsible for the website development is not going to answer any substantial questions so this is probably going to be yet another dead end.  If Lois Lerner can clam up for as long as she has, this woman shouldn't have any problem stonewalling those evil Rethuglicans as well.

'Don't Go Off to Your Happy Place': Megyn Battles Dem Over ObamaCare Plans

The House Ways and Means Committee is questioning Marilyn Tavenner, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). At a hearing last week, contractors paid to set up Healthcare.gov blamed CMS for the problems with the website.

Tomorrow, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will testify at a highly anticipated House hearing about the issues related to the ObamaCare launch.

Committee chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) persisted in trying to get Tavenner to give lawmakers an idea of how many people have signed up for health plans so far.

Tavenner stated over and over that the numbers won't be available until mid-November, but she said she knows about 700,000 people have completed applications. She said she has not been provided with numbers internally about how many Americans have actually enrolled.

"No one is forwarding even weekly updates on how the system's working? ... I understand you're not publicly releasing those numbers, but I'm asking, do you have any idea of how many people on a weekly basis enrolled? How do you not know how many people have enrolled? Camp asked.

"We'll have those numbers available in mid-November," Tavenner answered.

Camp did not understand why the figures are not available, saying ObamaCare is a "government program and we're trying to do oversight here."

The head of the agency implementing Obamacare, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services director Marilyn Tavenner, said today at a hearing on Capitol Hill that "We have a system that's working."

Rep. Brady said, "You know, you've been described as a quarterback of the Obamacare rollout. I'm sure that's not the term you chose for yourself. But can you guarantee no American will experience a gap in their health care?"

"So what I can guarantee is that we have a system that's working," said Tavenner. "We're going to improve the speed of that system --"

"Excuse me." 

"Yes?" 

"You're saying the system right now is working?" 

"I'm saying it's working. It's just not working at the speed that we want and at the success rate that want. Those are the things we're working on," said Tavenner.

That's the problem.  We have congressmen who want to actually do some in depth investigation and a Speaker who refuses to unleash them and allow select committees to be formed for all the scandals this administration is part of.
