Socialism is already taught - and advanced - in many of our public schools, though it is rarely identified as such. Having spent time reading my daughter's school textbooks during the past few years, a bias toward the Progressive worldview is more than casually evident, especially in social studies and history.

Howard Zinn's ouevre lowers the bar for overt ideological cheerleading, specifically in support of Marxist revolutionary thought and agitation. I would suggest that for city councilors to promote such a polemic as a grade school textbook might properly be viewed as a species of child abuse. 
We are entering revolutionary times. The law is no longer equally applied. The media are the ministry of truth. The Democratic party is a revolutionary force. And it is all getting scary. -VDH
