Man arrested in Mexico suspected of committing 79 murders
« on: October 28, 2013, 01:39:17 pm »
Mexican authorities say they have arrested a man who has admitted to killing 45 people, and he is being investigated in 34 more deaths.

Juan Pablo Vazquez, 20, was taken into custody in early October in Monterrey for allegedly selling drugs, Nuevo Leon state security spokesman Jorge Domene said, according to Reuters.

Vazquez identified himself as being part of an organized crime group and “is related to at least 79 murders, most of them committed in 2012,” Domene told reporters.

Vazquez became involved in organized crime at age 15 as an informant, and then progressed to being a drug dealer and hit man, AFP reports.

At least 80,000 people have died since 2007 in drug cartel violence within Mexico borders, Reuters reports.
