WashPost Poll: 78% Didn’t Miss Government During Shutdown
October 22, 2013 - 2:21 PM
By Terence P. Jeffrey

(CNSNews.com) - A large majority of Americans say they did not miss the federal government when it was partially shutdown during the first half of October, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released today.

The survey conducted Oct. 17-20 asked 1,002 adults: “Were you personally inconvenienced by the partial shutdown of the federal government or not?”

If the person said they were inconvenienced, the survey asked this followup: “Was it a major inconvenience or a minor inconvenience?”

78 percent said that they were not inconvenienced by the partial shutdown of the government. Of the 22 percent who said they were inconvenienced, 11 percent said it was a major inconvenience and 11 percent said it was a minor inconvenience.

Only the 90 year old WWII vets who were going to see their Memorial for the last time were hurt.

I was  inconvenienced.   Had to hide my beer until my government worker little brother was being paid again.

That 11% majorly inconvenienced bugs me. Is that not the rough percentage of those working for the Fedgov?

I was in the other 11% -- the minorly inconvenienced. The guy responsible for posting the week-by-week output for one of the NWS's long-range models (the CFSv2) was furloughed. The model was still running but it wasn't going out on the Internet.

You would think they'd've figured out how to automate that whole process... especially considering the entire rest of the NWS was kept working during the shutdown!
