Losing New York City: Is Joe Lhota even putting up a fight?

"A deficit is what you've got when you haven't got as much as if you just had nothing. If we tried any of this, we'd end up in jail, but the government gets rid of its debts by nationalizing them. That's like the alcoholic who solved his problem by pouring the booze in all of his bottles into one big container. Himself." (Charlie Farquharson, edited for spelling)

I lived in Manhattan when Dinkins was the city's mayor. Any present-day New Yorker who remembers what that was like should have every reason to dread a return to Democrat control of Gracie Mansion. And by "that", I mean: rampant crime, drugs sold openly in city parks, garbage-strewn streets and alleys, ubiquitous beggars and bums, subways with no heat in the winter and no air conditioning in the summer, all stinking and crawling with vermin. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Liberalism isn't really about making the world a better place. It's about reassuring the elites that they are good people for wanting to rule over it.

Smart people jumped that sinking ship long ago.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

For those who don't know, and the article doesn't mention, DiBlasio was a top aide in the Dinkins administration, and had a front row seat to Crown Heights riot but downplayed his role:

DiBlasio was being discussed on Pittsburgh radio host Jim Quinn's show this morning, and it's pretty scary. He's a classic Alinskyite and Manchurian candidate, it seems.
