Have you ever been water boarded?
No but if I had, I would be just fine.

Have you?

Actually, I have. I've also been hit by a taser and have been exposed to CS gas. You are right that you would be okay and survive the encounter, but you have no idea how horrible and painful the process actually is. It is absolutely torturous, and I challenge anybody that disagrees to have it done to them. Also, if you think we don't water board people with very low chances of being actual terrorists, you are wrong. Torture is pointless, because the person being tortured is just going to tell you whatever you want to hear (true or not) to get you to stop torturing them.

So if we held ten candidates, believing one knew about a major planned attack, would YOU waterboard them?

Assume 3,000 lives could be saved, by scaring ten people.

Scare ten people, make them uncomfortable for while, to save 3,000 lives?

Very rarely, if ever, is the situation that black and white. For the sake of argument though, I will honestly answer your question. Yes, I would, if I knew the lives of that many people were at stake, and that one of the people I was torturing had the answers to questions that could save their lives. I wasn't saying that it is never a technique that can be useful, and I wasn't advocating its complete removal, but I disagreed with you downplaying the severity of what it means to be water boarded. It hurts, a lot, and it is incredibly terrifying.

When I was in training, I was used as the demonstration victim, with CS gas--it was horrible. I was surprised, and very very shook up.

Later we had another course on the range, where we would be hit with CS. I had no choice, but to employ the training, and do it.

I have been held underwater by waves, and scared there as well. I volunteered for that.

And like I mentioned, I went through fraternity hazing which younger crybabies now call their mothers and the police, over.

We volunteered for that as well, and had the chance all along to walk away.

You are a Flag-Waving Everyman, also known as a patriot. You believe in championing liberty over tyranny, apple pie over sushi, and that God gave us a two-day weekend so we could enjoy football and NASCAR.

Result: Free Marketeer

Free Marketeer

You are a Free Marketeer, also known as a fiscal conservative. You believe in free-market capitalism, tax cuts, and protecting your hard-earned cash from pick-pocketing liberal socialists.

My results:

Result: Anti-government Gunslinger
Anti-government Gunslinger
You are an Anti-government Gunslinger, also known as a libertarian conservative or Tea Partier. You believe in smaller government, states' rights, gun rights, and that, as Reagan once said, "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
