Rep. Brown Blames House for Shutdown: ‘Don’t Confuse Nobody With The Facts’
October 14, 2013 - 2:22 PM
By Eric Scheiner

(CNSNews.com) -  “Let’s don’t confuse nobody with the facts,” Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) said during a congressional committee hearing where she made it clear that she blames the House for the government shutdown.

Rep. Brown made the comments during an Oct. 9 House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hearing on the impact the shutdown is having on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

“Let me be clear, I keep hearing the Senate, the Senate, I put the responsibility straight here with the House. We could pass a clean CR and you would not be sitting here,” Brown told Veterans Affairs Secretary Gen. Eric Shinseki.

“I don’t blame the Senate,” Brown continued, “I thank God for the Senate. The bad politics of this House - and at some point let’s don’t confuse nobody with the facts," she added.

“Now we're talking about November 1. I want to talk about October 17. If we do not pass the full faith and credit-- if we default -- what will happen to all the mothers and the spouses and the Tri-Care and the checks that go out period for the VA. Period, tell us what’s going to happen when these people in the House let us default on our credit?”

“The government is not effective and the House is responsible. They could pass a clean CR,” Brown added. “For the first time ever in the history I have voted against a VA bill because it was 6 billion dollars less than what we pass out of here, so now please respond.”

Shinseki replied, ”I would just repeat what the president has pointed out. What he looks to the Congress to do, is two things. One, provide a budget so we can operate as a government. And two, pay the bills that have already been incurred.”

Anyone elected to Congress should have to pass a literacy test before taking office.  :nono:
The skeptic is never for real. There he stands, cocktail in hand, left arm draped languorously on one end of the mantelpiece, telling you that he can't be sure of anything, not even of his own existence. I'll give you my secret method of demolishing universal skepticism in four words. Whisper to him: "Your fly is open." Now this is certainly reassuring of the quality standards at U of Florida or for those children attend school in that state. According to Wikipedia:

Quote
She earned a master's degree in 1971 and an educational specialist degree from the University of Florida in 1974. She received an Honorary Doctor of Law degree from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, and has been on the faculty at the latter two schools and at Florida Community College at Jacksonville.[3]
