President Barack Obama is demanding a $1.1 trillion "ransom"--or else he will not allow the debt ceiling to be raised. That's the effective offer on the table from the president and Senate Democrats. They have now refused to pass a "clean" short-term debt ceiling hike unless Republicans agree to reverse the "sequester" spending cuts in the 2011 Budget Control Act that were enacted--at Obama's suggestion--to end the last debt ceiling crisis.

Never mind the pesky ole constitution which says he CAN'T not pay our debt.  BTW this weekend the Chinese said it is time for a new world currency...

Who can blame them? The out of control QE policies of the Fed, combined with 80 years of Liberal Keynesian economic policies, are destroying the value of the dollar. Internally people are buying hard money assets like gold and silver. Externally we are headed toward an abandonment of the dollar as the international currency.

I think this would have a greater potential for the disaster prior to zippy's stewardship.  The BRIC + Japan, Australia and a few others could combine and coordinate finances to make this little more than a big but survivable bump in the road.
