Good. We saw it coming, we warned them, we still warn them.

They roll their eyes and go back to facebooking, ignoring us.

I hope it hurts them, badly, brings them to tears, causes them rage.

I don't care (well, I'll pretend that I don't care).  My guy won.  Leadership of our republic is a popularity contest, it matters not if my guy can do the job, loves the principle upon which our nation was founded, or if his policies made sense.  He won.  He gets to do whatever he wants.
</ObamaSupporterOpinion>

They are willing to settle for lose-lose than to admit their guy's policies are terrible for the people of this country, including themselves.  A loss for us is more important to them than anything else, even if it means that they have to lose, too.

They don't realize that it's only going to get worse for their wallets.  They will sign up for the cheapest plan (so they can crow about what a great buy they're getting) but are in for some sticker shock when they encounter the deductible after going to the doctor the first time.

Dear Ashley, you're 26 now, perhaps old enough to have voted in two presidential elections.

Who did you vote for?

There is much truth in what you say. Politics is like that. It's built into the fabric of the political system. I think that's why the number of people who self identify as independent voters is growing. People are sick of the two parties.

It is why I am re-registering.  Like I said on the Mitch McConnell thread, the GOP is rotting from the inside out.

I agree. The left wing too. The problem we agree on is that the government is doing a piss poor job at managing things.

Maybe you should check out the Tea Party - what the media never tells you is they are made up of Democrats, Republicans and Independents - what we all agree on in the TP is TAXED ENOUGH already and following the Constitutional form of government as laid out by our founders.

This isn't about healthcare at all. It's about CONTROL and IF we allow it to come to full fruition tears and rage will be completely meaningless!

Of course it is, which is why they tied it to the IRS.

I agree with some of their rhetoric, but overall I wouldn't really fit in. :P

Of course it is, which is why they tied it to the IRS.

Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.

These measures will, of course, be different in different countries.

Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.

From the Manifesto of the Communist Party Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, 1848, (Section II , toward the end)

I remember when the 'classical' left stood for unshackled liberty. Now, they are nothing but government sycophants willing to trade in their liberty for a government check.

Yep. It's why I attempt to never call the Democrats liberals. They simply are not.

The classical liberal also was open minded.

The present day 'liberal' (i.e. leftist) is as narrow minded and rigid as a human being can get.

There's no resemblance between a classical liberal and anyone functioning in the American political arena today on the Democrat side of the aisle.

I even think socialist is too gentle a word.  (It brings about images of happy, blonde people in Sweden.  ^-^ )

They are actually greedy, dishonest, power-hungry Marxists.

Right to the point! One could almost respect the common thief. At least he knows he's a thief. But these Democrats revel in legalized thievery and don't even bat an eye.
