Americans Shocked At Obamacare Premium Increases

Posted By Frank Camp on Oct 5, 2013 | 255 Comments
•“Obama promised would see $2,500 in annual savings as far as the eye could see…Between 2014 and 2022, the increase in national health spending (which the Medicare actuaries specifically attribute to the law) amounts to $7,450 per family of 4.” – Forbes
•“The study says 27-year-old men in Nebraska will see a whopping 279 percent increase in premiums and 27-year-old women in Nebraska will get an also-shocking 227 percent increase in rates.” – watchdog.org
•“Based on a Manhattan Institute analysis of the HHS numbers, Obamacare will increase underlying insurance rates for younger men by an average of 97 to 99 percent, and for younger women by an average of 55 to 62 percent. Worst off is North Carolina, which will see individual-market rates triple for women, and quadruple for men.” – Avik Roy

The above quotes are just three of many describing the premium increases average Americans will suffer under Obamacare. During his campaign, President Obama promised that families would save an average of $2500 a year under the affordable care act. However, for months, data has been pouring in, telling us otherwise. In addition to that, basic sense tells us that socialized medicine is a dangerous idea.

Despite all the evidence and the decades of history backing up the claim that Obamacare was a very bad idea, average, low-information Americans continued to allow themselves to be deceived. Now that Obamacare has officially hit the streets, those same Americans have become indignant about the cost increases.

On the Obamacare Facebook page, numerous people posted angry comments regarding cost increases:
•“I am so disappointed…These prices are outrageous and there are huge deductibles. No one can afford this!”
•“There is NO WAY I can afford it…Heck right now I couldn’t afford an extra 10$ [sic] a month…and oh apparently I make to [sic] much at 8.55/hour to get subsidies.”
•“my insurance plan right now for my spouse and I costs $545 a month with 100% coverage after my $2500 deductible. We are both 32 years old. When I looked at this site for 80% coverage it says it will be $954.78 a month!!!! So compare my old Plan: 100% coverage for $545 a month To New Plan: 80% Coverage for $945 a month. This is only only an estimate but it is VERY Scary for me to see this kind of increase in rates and reduction in benefits!”

What did these people expect? Are they living in an alternate universe where information is inaccessible? How do they go about their days without sussing even a modicum of factual information from the world around them regarding Obamacare?

This is just so sad. We are a country of empty-headed followers. King Obama issues edicts from on high, and we just eat it up like so much food. We are a peasant class. We have a King making false claims—otherwise known as telling lies—and we simply take him at his word, because we believe him to be benevolent.

This misplaced trust is borne out of intentional ignorance, and intellectual dishonesty. We are ignorant enough to believe the President will always be looking out for us; we are ignorant enough to believe that we can get something for free; and we are ignorant enough to believe everything the media tells us. We are peasants, Obama is the King, and the media are his soldiers.

We have great minds, but we don’t bother to use them. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would never even consider supporting Obamacare. Yet, we have people who are just now shocked by the premium increases they will endure. It baffles me.

As any number of observers have noted, this is all part of the greater plan. Obama will blame the insurance companies and "greedy" medical service providers, demanding further action by Congress... leading to more chaos and a public demand for action... leading in turn, to an "emergency" government takeover.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

The American people have been conditioned for decades by politicians and the media to believe that there is an endless supply of other people's money, wealth, to pay for things for everyone.  You hear it today constantly..." How can such a wealthy nation not have the money for..."

Well, a wealthy nation WON'T be wealthy for long if everyone gets all the same stuff without striving for and achieving it by their own efforts.  This is the story of Detroit being written at the national level.

No reason to be baffled, this is just our population of junkies taking another hit of "someone else will pay for it."

Quite possibly.  Anything to keep the sheep from looking up.

Could it be more than just high premium prices?

The "deductibles" seem to be sky-high as well. REALLY high.

Seems like this is a well-rigged scheme: charge a high price to "buy in", but make it unlikely to reap much in returns (you STILL pay out-of-pocket unless you're really, really ill).

Almost as if it was less a plan to provide health insurance, rather than raise revenue for income redistribution...

I would call it a very healthy tax increase not health insurance. People will be going into deep debt to pay the premiums and then high deductibles when they finally need health care. Maybe that is what they want people to do get so discouraged that working no longer pays and we will have poverty everywhere. I am not sure why this is a goal for Obama but that is what is happening. Do the elites want all of us to be penniless while they live high on the hog? Why would they care to bankrupt  people who are just going along paying their bills and living a nice quiet life being good citizens? To me none of this makes sense. To have a country with most people living close to poverty doesn't make for a wealthy country or give the rich the means to get richer off citizens it just doesn't make a bit of sense to me. Most of the citizens of this great country are not millionaires but in the past have lived very nice lives raising their families saving for and buying homes taking a little vacation every year and enjoying life for the most part also living a much higher quality of life then a majority of other countries. Why is changing this good for anyone rich or poor? I really don't understand the socialist or communist way of life it does not make for a happy society so why encourage it? The only thing that makes sense is Obama is an enemy of the state who is wanting us all dead. I don't understand why anyone democrat or republican making over 30,000 a year would want anything to do with Obama and his czars.
