Maher Mocks WWII Vets: ‘Nobody Said They Were The Brightest Generation’

By Noel Sheppard | October 5, 2013 | 16:24

Just when you thought Bill Maher couldn’t say anything more offensive than he already has, he outdoes himself.

On HBO’s Real Time Friday, the host during his opening monologue mocked World War II vets saying, “They're the greatest generation - nobody said they were the brightest generation” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: The other thing that apparently was so important for the Republicans to keep open was the World War II Memorial in Washington. That was closed, so a bunch of the World War II vets knocked down the barriers and stormed it. [Laughter]

And then I loved this, they posed for pictures with Michele Bachmann who showed up. Michele Bachmann, one of the people most responsible for shutting the bleep thing down. They're the greatest generation - nobody said they were the brightest generation. [Laughter]

Wow!

So in Maher’s world, even the last remaining survivors of those that defeated Hitler and Japan are to be ridiculed.

How can the folks at HBO abide this?

I don't believe I've ever heard anyone say that of Maher. **nononono*  I don't believe I've ever heard anyone say he is funny. **nononono* In fact, I don't believe heard anyone say ANYTHING good about him. :troll:

These "attention getting" statements are the only thing that keeps this little insignificant a**hole in the news.   :nometalk:

I hate what Maher said. But, I'll defend to my death his right to say it.

Bill Maher is the Grand Canyon of a@@holes.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I remember after 9/11, some conservatives like Dennis Prager were jumping to Maher's defense after Maher made his anti-military and anti-American comments, where he said "we've been the cowards." They were fooled into thinking that Maher was pro-military. These comments confirm that he is not.
