One of the most open secrets in Washington is that the House Republican Leadership and House Speaker John Boehner did not want the fight they are currently in over Obamacare.
What the Republican establishment wanted was another quiet surrender to Obama. Obamacare would have been funded, the debt ceiling would have been raised and the House Republicans could have sent out another round of fundraising letters. Those fundraising letters would have denounced Obamacare, talked about their numerous and meaningless votes to repeal it and offered a nebulous plan at some undefined point in the future to repeal it.
But now, thanks to the conservative wing of the Party, John Boehner and company are forced to fight.
The left wing Washington political media has been pushing the moderate wing of the House GOP for a revolt. One is brewing, and if the GOP is not quick to squash this revolt, it will mean the end of the GOP.
The RINO wing of the Party, led by New York Congressman Peter King is demanding that a clean “CR” or Continuing Resolution be passed. What that means in non-political English is that Obamacare would be fully funded and the Republican Party would surrender.
There is even a plot being brewed that would have twenty to thirty Republican “moderates” defect and use a procedural maneuver that would give the Democrats control of the House of Representatives for about an hour. During that time, they could pass the “clean CR” that fully funds Obamacare.
John Boehner needs to crush this insurrection with the speed and force he crushed a conservative insurrection earlier this year.
If the moderates revolt and they pass the “Clean CR” it will mean the end of the Republican Party.
There are already some quiet discussions going on among conservative and Tea Party leaders about leaving the Republican Party and forming a new Party.
Conservative unity with the Republican Party is hanging by a thread. Conservatives have not forgotten nor will they ever forgive Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for stabbing Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz in the back. While a few conservatives had been supporting McConnell in his reelection bid, almost all of them have now abandoned him.
If the so-called “moderate” Republicans want to adopt the position of preemptory surrender and sell the conservative movement out, they are going to be in for a very rude surprise.
Conservatives will abandon the GOP. After all, if the Republican Party is simply going to be the party of surrender to the Democrats, why should conservatives even bother with them?
The Conservative base has been electrified by Ted Cruz and then by the fact that the House Leadership is actually fighting for a change.
If Peter King and some other RINO’s in the House stab the conservative movement in the back by selling it out and working with the Democrats to pass a “clean CR,” they will quickly find themselves in a very small party.
The Tea Party was born because the Republican Party would not stand up for real Americans. The Republican Party was born because the Whig Party would not stand up for all Americans.
If the Republican Party sells America out one more time, a new party will be born and the Republican Party will join the Whig Party in the Smithsonian Museum.
