Michael Cerpok of Fountain Hills, Arizona might soon need to find a new job, just so he can afford to pay for healthcare insurance under Obamacare. Cerpok suffers from Leukemia, and requires ongoing treatment until the day he dies. In 2012 his medical bills were more than $350k, but due to his insurance then, he was only required to pay $4,500.

Now that will change.

On January 1st, he received a letter from his insurance that he would be dropped due to the new regulations under Obamacare. He’ll also probably lose his specialist doctor at the Mayo Clinic.  ”Now it doesn’t mean I can’t go see my current doctor, but my $4,500 out-of-pocket, is going to turn into a minimum of $26,000 out-of-pocket to see the doctor that I’ve been seeing the last seven years,” he said. Cerpok stated that he hopes people realize that he’s making a big sacrifice so that others can have health insurance.

His family is going to see what their options are, and if necessary pick up new jobs.

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - A Fountain Hills man says he may soon have to get another job just to pay for healthcare insurance under the new Affordable Care Act.

Michael Cerpok, is a high school drop-out, one of six kids born to a school teacher, and doesn’t come from a wealthy family. He has run two businesses for more than 25 years and says he may have to do more to literally stay alive.

“I've worked hard because I've had to, and I’ve had to, because cancer runs in my family," says Cerpok, who picked his current health insurance based on that family history. His monthly premium is just about half of his monthly take-home pay.

Back in 2006, he found out he had an incurable form of leukemia that requires ongoing treatment until he dies.

In 2012, his treatment bill was more than $350,000. But because of his insurance, his out-of-pocket was only $4,500.

That’s about to change because Michael just got a letter from his insurance carrier saying as of January 1, he would be dropped from coverage because of new regulations under Obamacare. His doctor at the Mayo Clinic may be gone as well.

"Now it doesn't mean I can't go see my current doctor, but my $4,500 out-of-pocket, is going to turn into a minimum of $26,000 out-of-pocket to see the doctor that I’ve been seeing the last seven years," he said.

Michael realizes millions of people will benefit from the coverage, but he wants them to realize that others are making sacrifices to make that happen.

He says that he and his wife will continue to look at their options, try and find a similar plan, and if they need to, they’ll pick up second jobs.

I couldn't find a description of what type of leukemia he has, but it may be similar to my 88-year-old mother's CLL, diagnosed some 17 years ago for which she takes an oral chemo that keeps her white count in check. Waiting to see whether Medicare and her supplemental plan determine that at her age she's no longer deserving of treatment.  **nononono*

I worry about my mother, as well. Mom is 86, very healthy and has more energy than I do. One illness, and the government might think she is a waste of space, no matter how important she is to us. I feel bad for the elderly that are in your mother's position. I can picture the government cleaning out the nursing homes of the elderly who are on Medicaid.

This government absolutely will do that, happyg.  Obamacare's full enforcement guarantees that it will.

The people in communist countries are better off than we are right now. Obama should be leading some rogue African third world country, rather than the U.S.

Except that his goal is to bring the US down to the level of those rogue African third world countries.

And he's well on his way to accomplishing that goal.   **nononono*
