Here's what we know about Miriam Carey, the woman identified in news reports as the suspect in a shooting incident that left Capitol Hill on lockdown for a brief period Thursday afternoon, and has now reportedly been shot dead by police.

Carey, a 34-year-old dental hygenist has been identified by ­­­the New York Post and the New Haven Register newspaper as the suspect in a shooting incident that took place in the nation's capital. Here’s what we know about Carey so far....

...Carey, who has ties to both Stamford, Conn., and Brooklyn, N.Y., hails from a condominium complex in Stamford called Woodside Green, according to the Register, and was permitted to work as a hygenist in Connecticut prisons, the Post reported.

ABC News reported that Carey had "a history of mental health issues."...

From the photos folks have found from her, she seemed to be a beautiful lady. I wonder what mental health issues she had that caused her to snap?

This is purported to be from her Facebook page (removed). I want to caution though about any potential Facebook pages. Every time an incident like this happens, tons of trolls make fake pages and they are good at making them appear to be old pages.  Facebook usually pulls all of them quickly and I can't find any for her now.

Capitol rampage mom ‘thought Obama was stalking her’

The Stamford mom who went on a driving rampage on Capitol Hill believed President Obama was stalking her, according to an NBC report.

Friends paint a contrasting picture of Miriam Carey, 34, who grew up in Brooklyn. Carey had a history of mental illness, but friends said she seemed happy in recent months and showed no warning signs that she was about to crack.

Carey, a dental hygienist from Connecticut, plowed her car into a White House barricade Thursday with a baby in her back seat, then led cops on a chase that ended with them fatally shooting her outside the Capitol, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

“She loved being a mother, which doesn’t make sense,” family friend Yolando Napoleon, 40, said outside Carey’s old East New York home.

“She had everything going for her. A beautiful baby, a man helping her with her baby, a job making 100K per year. Her child was her everything.”

Cops could not confirm that the 1-year-old girl in the car was Carey’s daughter, Erica. Carey also has another young child, a source said.

Carey’s rampage began just after 2 p.m., when she ran her black Infiniti over several low barricades onto a driveway leading to the White House.

When she was stopped by a larger barricade, she reversed and struck a Secret Service officer, who flipped over the hood, said witness B.J. Campbell, a tourist.

Carey then sped off away from the White House, down Pennsylvania Avenue, at least 20 Secret Service and US Capitol Police cars in pursuit.

After a chase of more than a mile, she got hemmed in by officers and was staring down the barrels of at least five guns.

She quickly backed away, drove twice around monuments in front of the Capitol and headed to the west side of the building.

A cruiser blocked her path, but she reversed, jumped a curb and struck another police car as she sped off again.

Finally, at Second Street and Maryland Avenue, between the Supreme Court and the Hart Senate Office Building, her car was surrounded by cops and Secret Service vehicles.

At least a dozen gunshots rang out, killing the unarmed woman in the driver’s seat, with some of the nation’s senior lawmakers nearby.

Carey’s mother, Idella Carey, told ABC News Thursday night that her daughter began suffering from post-partum depression after giving birth to her daughter, Erica, last August.

“A few months later, she got sick,” she said. “She was depressed. … She was hospitalized.”

Idella Carey said her daughter had “no history of violence” and she didn’t know why she was in Washington on Thursday. She said she thought Carey was taking Erica to a doctor’s appointment in Connecticut.

...  A neighbor, Erin Jackson, said she believed Carey lived in the Stamford home with the baby and the girl's father. Asked if she believed Carey suffered from a mental illness, Jackson said "absolutely."

Jackson recognized the black Infinity sedan seen on television from the incident as resembling Carey's car. She said the woman's tires recently were slashed in an incident in Connecticut.  ...

I don't think we should assume that she did 'snap'.

Remember that this is the 'official' story being fed to us by the media.

The police could probably kill you and then come up with 'mental health issues' in your background to justify it...

I don't think there is a good explanation for murdering an unarmed woman with a toddler in the car.

She should have at least been pounding one of the officer's head into the concrete...

Have Chris Matthews and Piers Morgan "identified" her as a member of the Tea party, yet?   This is obviously a display of liberal Washington's hatred for mentally ill black women.  Where are J$ss$ J$cks$n and Al Sharptongue demanding "justice" for her?   Why aren't they threatening insurrection, er "civil disobedience" for this moral depravity?  Why isn't Nazi Pelosi spewing her vindictiveness?  We know Harry Reid doesn't have time to worry about such things.  Why, if this had been a white male, the police wouldn't have shot him, they would have kindly asked him to come with them.  This is terrible.  The United Nitwits ought to get involved like they wanted for Trayvon!  Are scientists going to name an asteroid after her like they did Trayvon?  Is Obama going to say if he had a niece, she would have looked just like Carey?  Is he going to tell us how "stupidly" the police acted?  Oh, this is terrible.
