Obama: Looming Government Shutdown a Manufactured Crisis
« on: September 30, 2013, 08:57:11 PM »
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/09/30/Obama-Potential-Govt-Shutdown-Manufactured-Crisis

by Tony Lee 30 Sep 2013, 5:08 PM PDT

On Monday, President Barack Obama accused Republicans of trying to "extract a ransom" for funding the government and said a potential government shutdown was a manufactured crisis.

Speaking in the White House briefing room, Obama said a government shutdown was preventable and blamed House Republicans for continuing to "tie funding of the government to ideological demands like limiting a woman's access to contraception or delaying the Affordable Care Act, all to save face after making some impossible promises to the extreme right wing of their party."

Obama said even if the government shuts down, Obamacare is "moving forward."

"That funding is already in place," he said. "You can't shut it down."

He said Americans have "worked too hard for too long to recover from previous crises just to have folks here in Washington manufacture yet another one that they have to dig themselves out of."

"My hope and expectation is that in the 11th hour once again that Congress will choose to do the right thing and that the House of Representatives, in particular, will choose the right thing," Obama said. "You don't get to extract a ransom for doing your job, for doing what you're supposed to be doing anyway, or just because there's a law there that you don't like."

While the president attacked the Republican-controlled House in his remarks, of note is the fact that the Senate did not pass a budget for the first four years of Obama's time in office and was not in session on Sunday to work on avoiding a government shutdown. In addition, Senate Majority Harry Reid (D-NV) has said Democrats will not compromise on any resolution that would impact Obamacare or its funding.

On Monday, hours before parts of the government will shut down if Congress does not pass a resolution, House Republicans indicated they would attach amendments to a short-term resolution that would fund the government. These measures would delay Obamacare's individual mandate for a year and prevent lawmakers in Congress and the executive branch and their staffs from receiving subsidies for the health insurance they must now purchase on the Obamacare exchanges.

So, Obamacare is neither defunded nor delayed.

Let it go into effect.  This rollout is going to be a disaster; systems won't be ready, websites won't be up, premiums won't be verified, the currently insured will be losing their health plans.

Let the public get a bellyful of this monster.  Republicans won't help the Democrats fix it, so the public can truly see what the Democrats have wrought.

I DO NOT want a SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That is why we have to defund this monster now, not all of us are getting rich off this monster... the insurance carriers are already collapsing all over the country.  And another thing I do not want to pay for someone else to have insurance, it is bad enough I pay higher premiums because people choose to drink, smoke and eat crap or go out and do incredibly stupid things and injure themselves. It is bad enough those of us without children have to pay for other people to send their their kids to school..... bad enough we are now paying to feed 10% of this nation... support deadbeats on welfare who are capable of working... I draw the line at this bill.

I agree, Rap.  If we don't draw the line now, it will be too late!  Obamacare will not go away once it starts.  Anybody that thinks so does not know history.

Well, you had best get ready to be disappointed.  Obama is not going to allow his signature achievement to be defunded.  The best the Republicans can hope for is to delay the individual mandate, but even that is unlikely.

We have to move to plan B.   Make the Democrats come begging when the public screams that Obamacare is not working.

Do you ever get tired of going along to get along rather than standing up for what is right.  Clearly you are okay with single payer. I'm not.

OK.  Go down with the ship.

Your "strategy" is no strategy at all... it destroys our healthcare system... which you obviously do not care about...

We have to move to plan B.   Make the Democrats come begging when the public screams that Obamacare is not working.

Which is why the republicans have to make a concerted effort now to defund Obamacare, even if that effort fails.  Why?  Because if they don't, if they just go along to get along now, then they won't be taken that seriously when the democrats and the public come screaming to be saved from Obamacare, and we'll just end up getting some bastardized democrat party "reform" of Obamacare that ends up making things worse.

Having stood on common sense and principle to defund Obamacare now, even if that attempt fails, gives one political capital to spend when Americans finally have their noses rubbed so hard in the shit of Obamacare that they turn against the democrats.  But just turning against the democrats does not, by itself, imply turning to the republicans; for that the public must have some reason to turn to the republicans, and part of that reason is going to be the fact that the republicans stood against Obamacare when that stand was held against them; i.e., when they stood on principle rather than popularity.

Will Obamacare be successfully defunded now?  Probably not.  Would defunding solve everything?  Almost certainly not, and it could make certain things worse because the law would still be there, in all of its bastardized evil, waiting for some enterprising government functionary to pick it up again down the road and start using it as a weapon.  If Obamacare is to be successfully defeated for the long-term, it will have to be repealed; however, the road to that goal requires that the move to defund be treated seriously.

Ten states where Obamacare wipes out existing health care plans
7:35 PM 09/28/2013

President Barack Obama famously promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” He later got even more specific.

“If you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have,” Obama said.

But as Obamacare’s rollout approaches, we have learned this is not true. Here are the ten states where consumers may like their health care plans, but they won’t be able to keep them.

1) California: 58,000 will lose their plans under Obamacare. The first bomb dropped in California with a mass exodus from the most populated state’s Obamacare exchange. Aetna, the country’s third largest insurer, left first in July and was closely followed by UnitedHealth. Anthem Blue Cross pulled out of California’s Obamacare exchange for small businesses as well.

Fifty-four percent of Californians expect to lose their coverage, according to an August poll.

2) Missouri: Patients of the state’s largest hospital system — which spans 13 hospitals including the St. Louis Children’s Hospital — will not be covered by the largest insurer on Obamacare exchanges, Anthem BlueCross BlueShield. Anthem covers 79,000 patients in Missouri who may seek subsidies on Obamacare exchanges, but won’t be able to see any doctors in the BJC HealthCare system.

3) Connecticut: Aetna, the third largest insurer in the nation, won’t offer insurance on the Obamacare exchange in its own home state, where it was founded in 1850. The reason? “We believe the modification to the rates filed by Aetna will not allow us to collect enough premiums to cover the cost of the plans and meet the service expectations of our customers,” said Aetna spokesman Susan Millerick.

4) Maryland: 13,000 individuals covered by Aetna and its recently-purchased Coventry Health Care won’t be able to keep their insurance plans if they want Obamacare subsidies on the exchanges. Aetna and Coventry canceled plans to offer insurance in the exchange when state officials wouldn’t allow them to charge premiums high enough to cover costs.

5) South Carolina: 28,000 people were insured by Medical Mutual of Ohio, SC’s second-largest insurance company, until it decided to leave the state entirely in July due to Obamacare’s “vast and quite complex” new regulations. Company spokesman Ed Byers said Medical Mutual’s patients would be switched over to United Healthcare plans instead.

6) New York: Aetna pulled out of New York’s exchange in late August in an effort to keep their plans “financially viable,” said Aetna spokeswoman Cynthia Michener.

7) New Jersey: 1.1 million Aetna customers are at risk in New Jersey, where the leading insurer also won’t be a part of the exchange. Just 2,600 patients purchase individual plans with the company, but any looking to take advantage of subsidies on the exchange for unaffordable employer-based insurance won’t be able to do with Aetna.

8) Iowa: Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Iowa’s largest health insurer, decided not to offer plans in the Obamacare exchange. It sells 86 percent of Iowa’s individual health insurance plans.

9) Wisconsin: Two of the three largest insurers in the state won’t offer plans on the exchange. United Healthcare and Humana patients will have to get a new health insurer to buy insurance on Obamacare exchanges.

10) Georgia: Just five insurers are participating in Georgia’s Obamacare exchange. Medical Mutual of Ohio left Georgia and Indiana as well as South Carolina, due to Obamacare regulations. Aetna, along with Coventry, also decided against participating in the George health exchange.

Just last week you stated you didn't care that insurance carriers were being wiped out around the country.  And you never acknowlege how bad single payer system is... leaves me to draw one conclusion, you truly hope it is not defunded... ever.

The only reason the ship is going down, if it is in fact going down, is because the surrender monkeys keep poking holes in it!

Sorry but I've had a gut full of that!

Why stop going along when you're sucking on the Obamacare teat for all its worth?
