Federal agents raid defense contractor near Johnstown
September 10, 2013 1:51 pm

By Torsten Ove / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Federal agents today raided two locations connected to a defense contractor near Johnstown as part of an ongoing investigation by the Defense Department.

Agents executed search warrants at Concurrent Technologies Corp., which was established by the late Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, and has received large defense contracts in the past.

The U.S. attorney's office in Pittsburgh confirmed the raid but said only that the agents are from Defense Criminal Investigative Services, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS.

Agents searched offices at CTC's Systems Technology building on CTC Drive and the company's Environmental Technology facility at 128 Industrial Park Road.

Federal prosecutors would not discuss the nature of the raids other than to say they are part of an ongoing federal investigation.

Mr. Murtha, who died in 2010, set up CTC in the 1980s as a nonprofit research center for metalworking and helped guide some $1 billion in defense spending to it.
