Several opposition activists contacted inside Syria said that Assad has been using the postponement to redeploy troops and hardware that could be targeted to safer positions and into civilian areas.

Moving the most valuable of his exposed assets into close proximity to large groups of civilians is probably the most effective thing he could do on short notice to protect those assets.  It wouldn't require the emergency construction of new defensive structures, or hasty decisions on which assets can be sacrificed to protect other assets in the limited defensive structures Syria currently has.

Obama would, obviously, criticize such a move, but (a) it's a move that seems to have become fairly routine in the Middle East, and (b) harsh words from a weakened, ineffective Obama who wasn't even able to do much damage to Assad's assets because the risk to civilians was too high will be utterly ignored in the Middle East.

It would be interesting to know the extent to which Assad has adopted this strategy.

No matter what happens, the days after we will be treated to many pictures of children killed in the raids...and we will get to then see the magnitude of the American Left's hypocrisy.  Obama believes that his full control of the media will prevent outrage here...combined with the cover of his Republican votes in advance.  We shall see...

Ah yes, But Mr. Kerry assures us that there is a whole slew of Arab countries that are going to foot the entire bill for Obama's little Syrian adventure - just not in blood, we get to spill that - however, he won't - because he can't - divulge the identity of these countries.

The longer this goes on, the more I become convinced this is Obama's "bomb the aspirin factory" moment. It's designed to take our attention off Benghazi, the IRS, etc. A sort of mutated "wag the dog".

Color me highly skeptical of what is going on and what really motivates Obama.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R) Florida -  told Shep Smith last hour that "it's okay to kill all your people conventionally... just not with chemical weapons."  I thought Shep was going to crawl through the camera and wring her neck and I agreed with his outrage at that statement.

Heck, Obama is in the dark about his policies. :Odance:
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin
