Any airbags in the high-end Mercedes?

3-point harness seatbelts, fastened?

I don't recall the speed, or the vehicle's travel path.

Generally scooter paparazzi's endanger many people.

You'd think if any car would be safe, it would be a Benz, but not necessarily when: The black type S280 Mercedes was being driven through the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris at around 61 to 63mph - twice the speed limit for that section of road.

That tunnel is evil to drive at night, even if you are sticking to the speed limit and totally sober.

It is very well lit, so your eyes are struggling to adjust, and the central pillars flicker in an almost hypnotic way. You feel like the road is curving, even though it isn't.
